I had the S9 hooked up to my 360 all went well. The xbox saw the S9 and I played a video from it with no problem. Later I hooked it up again but this time the xbox does not see the S9 at all. I did not change anything and confirmed that the S9 was in MSC mode but no luck all it will do is charge the S9.
What am I missing?[help]

I have also had this issue its very temperamental . Have you tired connecting it with the console off then booting it up?

Sorry I can't be of anymore help.

Yes have tried connecting both on and off no difference. Not sure why this is going on either it should connect or not, sometimes connecting makes no sense.

I've had this problem too, only had luck getting the xbox and the S9 to connect once.

I have my S9 usually set to MSC, and the 1st time I plugged it into the 360, music played fine. I turned the 360 off, and unplugged the s9, turned it back on and plugged it back in, and the 360 didn't recognize the S9.

I switched to MTP mode, and 1st time I plugged it in, it played music fine. The 360 recognizes it after you unplug and replug it back in. So, MTP mode works perfectly.

Just be sure to switch on your s9 before you plug it in.

You're right, videos doesn't work in MTP mode..Hmm, very interesting, don't know how to get the 360 to recognize the S9 under MSC mode (well apparently it works randomly), and don't know how to get videos to play.

thanks for checking! Either it works or it does not. Sometimes working makes no sense to me, I m going to keep trying to get this to work, because when it does the video quality is far better than the special a/v cable.

Doesn't look like this is limited to the S9.

Thanks for the info. But the S9 will connect via MTP mode all the time but only sometimes will the video be available on the xbox. I have been able to view movies on the xbox via the s9 on a couple of different days, but now not at all, strange for sure.

right. I saw in your previous posts that you can sometimes connect. What I read in the links I provided seemed to indicate that not all USB devices were supported by the xbox. Specifically that some drivers aren't on it. So I was thinking that may be the reason for the flaky behavior. If you haven't upgraded the software on your xbox in a while, you might try that.

Good idea on upgrading the XBOX software have not used it for awhile, is there a place on the xbox where I can update? I thought it was automatically done at start up, but could be wrong.

EDIT: You may be correct. It looks like Xbox Live will prompt you if an update is available.

Ok I now have this solved!!
After many hours and I have figured out the correct procedure to get your S9 to run via the XBOX 360 both for music and video. There are two methods in getting this to work one for music and the other for music and video.

First for just music (the easiest):
1. Set your S9 to MTP mode
2. Turn on your S9
3. Connect to 360
4. 360 will recognize it as "Cowon S9 1.21 (my guess is the 1.21 is a HW version)
5. Done you will be able to play your music via the 360

Second for music and video:
1. Set your S9 to MSC mode
2. Turn on S9
3. Go to Video or Music Libarary (from My XBOX) so you will see if the S9 get seen
4. Connect S9 to XBOX, while main screen is active on S9
5. If the Xbox does not see it right away, unplug and replug it back to the 360 It might take a couple of times but has to be done before the charging sceens shows up on the S9
6. One connected, the 360 sees it as a Portable Device and you now can play music and play videos via the 360.
I hope this helps folks that have a 360 and want to play music and or video with the S9.
Note: IMO the video played this way is better than the special a/v cable for the S9/
Thanks to all who have help me with this, your ideas set me in the right direction!

Hmm cool, that's exactly what I tried doing, and sometimes it didn't work (the second method)..

I have been lucky using the second method for the last couple of days with 100% success rate.
