▣ Warning/Caution

★ The firmware update must be performed in ‘Recovery Mode’ when updating from previous firmware (ver. 1.15 or lower) to the current firmware (ver. 1.20 or higher). The same rule applies to firmware downgrade when rolling back from the current firmware (ver. 1.20) to an older firmware (ver. 1.15 or lower).

★ Before installing new firmware, existing firmware must be removed from iAUDIO. There are 2 ways to remove existing firmware from iAUDIO:
‘Control Panel’ -> ‘Add/Remove programs’ -> Remove ‘iAUDIO 5 [ Cowon digital Audio Player]’ OR ‘Start’ -> ‘Programs’ -> ‘Cowon System’ -> ‘Remove’

What do you mean by 'includes HDD format'? I think you mean on the I5 not the PC, correct? I would assume that just like when I went to 1.15 it erased all music on the player if that is what you mean.

thanks

With 1.15 you had the option to erase all the music and settings on the 5 or you could just update the firmware and leave the data intact. With 1.20 you have no choice, the music and settings on the player get erased.

A little warning: Do not move your old system folder and overwrite the new ne after upgrade.
I made a file backp of my i5 and could upgrade from FW 1.15 to 1.20. After a restart, the folders were present on the i5. But either the overwriting of the logo.lib file, effect.ini or (empty) playlist.dpl must have caused that the player did not start anymore: The iaudio sign comes up, but it hangs there.
Better to reconfigure the player after the upgrade manually.
