I just bought this one from newegg. Firmware 2.09
My OS (Vista 32, sp1) won't recognize the player when plugged. (laptop)
All other usb devices: ipod, memory device, hd all works fine.
S9 has been hardset, reload to default, usb mode changed, none of these solves the problem.
Any suggestions?

By the way, s9 is also tested on two other laptops (XP and Vista)
Neither of them recognize it either.

Sounds defective, I'd RMA it.

Try changing it to MTP mode.

I dunno man--try reset a couple more times (my X5 sometimes needed a little convincing, and my S9 gets that way too on occasion), and if that doesn't work, maybe it's time to talk to Cowon.

Mine works fine with Vista SP1
SP2 is out now, you could try to download and istall it. Maybe that will fix your problems.
Did you try every USB-ports. You could also try to turn the device on when its hooked up to your laptop (Use the power-button, if that's not wrking try the play button --> in case the play-buttons works then it may be a problem with your S9)

You could check Disk Managment and see if it's listed there or Device Manager as well.

I dont think its OS related as I have tried it on three different systems.

I have tried turning on the device and then connect it, doesnt work either.
And, by mentioning pressing the play-button, can you provide more details?
As I recall, turn on the device while pressing the play button should enter to the recovery mode, but the device cant be turned on and have to be reset when I try this. I dont know this recovery mode entrance is still applicable to s9 or not though.

Nothing new appears and nothing change.... I tend to believe that I got a broken device or cable. Maybe I should try the lottery next week....

^good that you didn't lose your sense of humour over it. Just send the bugger back and get your money back or ask replacement. Even if it's the usb cable thats broke, the thing is non-standard anyway's

Dude, I started having the same problem as you, I eventually RMA'd it. Come to find out my S9 has a malfunctioning USB port...

(That's why they should have just stuck with a mini usb port like their other devices [no]!)
