They didn't fix the pan&scan which they broke in 1.28... back to 1.27 for me.

Ooooh boy, brainwave stimulator - just what I always wanted... http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&js=n&u=http%3A%2F%2Fboard.cowon.com%2Fzeroboard%2Fzboar d.php%3Fid%3DC08%26page%3D1%26sn1%3D%26divpage%3D1 %26bmenu%3DM%26sn%3Doff%26ss%3Don%26sc%3Don%26sele ct_arrange%3Dheadnum%26bmenu%3DM%26desc%3Dasc%26no %3D643%26bmenu%3DM&sl=auto&tl=en

As the addition of the "Alpha Brain" application is the only change (I have compared files with 1.28)...
... and that application can only be used by people who have paid for the dictionary-capable firmware...
... which can only be bought if you understand korean...

Somehow I feel this post doesn't even deserve to exist.
I mean, unless a korean O2 owner happens to come here, there is no way firmware 1.29 could possibly be of any use.

Correct me if I am wrong?

*sigh*

BTW comparing files is no good cos it's always the same files with different content I guess. Also the firmware's new 'app' might not be korean O2 exclusive. I didn't see any evidence to prove that, though I'm not questioning you. MAybe when the english version comes out we can understand more about this firmware.

When I say comparing files I mean using the UNIX "cmp" command which compares files byte-by-byte.

Hmmm, the Dictionary is one of the things I would really like on my O2. Again, it is one of those "specialty" features that some people would never use and/or find annoying, whilst others may find it extremely helpful... I am one of the latter ;-)
(having used the dictionary on my D2 regularly for a while)

I spent ages trying to crawl through the cowonkorea site using google translate and an OCR program (for the images), hoping I could get over the language barrier sufficiently to buy the dictionary firmware (yes, it is something I would happily *pay* for, shock horror!)...
Eventually I gave up, fruitless - a good workman never blames his tools but I'm no translator ;-)
Google translate's korean support, and my OCR program's innacuracies, just made it too hard to get there.
Besides, I didn't want to end up paying for something and not be able to get it.

So by all ways and means, the dictionary is korean-only, as you would need to be fluent in the language to buy it.
(and, somehow, I can't see that changing in the near future)

By the looks of things firmware 1.28 hasn't even appeared on cowonglobal yet so don't get your hopes up (especially as the Alpha Brain thing is only in korean too) =/

Ok, thanks for clarifying. If the Alpha brain thing is only in korean then it makes sense that we cannot use it

Well I'm still on 1.27 and have not updated, also liking the P&S option plus there's nothing useful here.

Yeah, I have lost a little bit of hope in them really upgrading or repairing what they should with the player. H264 format. It is a pain.

Cowon has dropped the ball. It's been 6 months since the player has been out on the market. How long before a real update?

Hey, changing numbers on firmware is a lot of work.

I noticed a Bug in 1.28 that I think might have been fixed in 1.29.

While viewing a video the A-B and 1.00x would not disappear/fade out. It was kinda random.

I haven't had this problem with 1.29.

I contacted Cowon Germany about the Pan&Scan bug in 1.28/29 - they said they're gonna forward it to the Korean HQ. Not that I have really any hope it's gonna get fixed again, but well... maybe if more people contact Cowon they might really fix some bugs instead of just implementing more new trinkets.

Since you have a contact, and if you haven't already, please let them know to fix the MKV/H264 format audio/video syncing.

Probably not where to post...got 1.29!!!

Phew, I'm glad I kept the .cue files of my merged FLAC>mp3[to get gapless albums], so when Cowon goes gapless I'll stick them in a cues-plitting program.

^I did this via foobar. Select albums[in a lossless format], right-click and go to convert Multiple output files, will create numerous single album files[mine named '%album%'] and choose the file-type[i.e. mp3]. Albumart needs embedding as album = single file.

Ugh this all super disappointing. I just want an overhaul on everything.

I'm getting lost with the firmware updates, so sorry for my question.

Is the h264 fixed in the new firmware update 1.33 or not ? Otherwise I'm staying with my 1.27C...
