so basically what are the best settings for most videos (that are already in divx/avi/xvid) to put them in the best size (i.e height/width) for the s9 and which software should i use. thanks in advance :)

If you just want to reduce filesize then grab handbrake (http://www.handbrake.fr), and convert your video's to: screen res - 480x272 with a bitrate of about 400kbs (that should be more than enough for that res, but if not you can increase it yourself)

Those are the space saving settings i'd use, i'd also cut out any credits if I REALLY needed some extra space. To find what is right for you you may need to do a bit of trial and error testing.

All the best.

I am using AVS Converter and selected the option HD XVID. Then i clicked on "Advanced..." and seletected the max. resoultion and fps of the S9.

Video: xvid 480x272 30frame/s bitrate 4500
Audio: MP3 320kbit/s, 48kHz

When you watch the video, you'll notice that it'll be better than an HD television. But the filesize is about 3.2 GB (film "Transformers"). :D

If you don't have enough space on S9, you can always use the same program and select other profiles that are similar to S9 resolution.

If you try to make your videos to fit the entire S9 screen you're altering the image by either making people look fat or skinny or you are chopping off the sides or top and bottom of the video. And you are stretching the image making it a less clear less sharp of a video. Somehow doing that takes away the impact the movie would normally have.

I much rather see the original image just the way it was designed.
