That is way fast!

Can't wait till I can use that.

EDIT: Tried getting on the site, but you have to have a log in, and wouldn't let me go to the main page, access was denied...

Btw it says that video was posted January 18...why haven't we seen this before! lol

What I really wish was that we could have that flow, but with the Album & Artist name next to it. And what would be off the hook is if the entire Browser functioned like that. Both Videos and Music at least. =)

I haven't seen this on Naver but I'll start looking more. Here is another site to check out as well: http://www.cowoninside.com/

It's way easier to register on than naver.

WOW it's a coverflow-esque browser that WORKS!

Claw
04-04-2009, 21:05
Very cool. I suspect that the UCI preloads all the images - that's the only way to make it move so fast (that I know of). This could mean two issues - long time to start up and heavy memory usage ... would be curious to see how it actually works.

The video is all I could find on three Koren sites (naver.com, pmpinside.com, and the link you posted). It does not appear that the uci was ever posted. I reviewed all the posts from the user that put the video up and it is never mentioned/referrenced again.

Maybe someone else will have better luck.

maybe that was just a teaser?
and the guy was only showing what he had done... and not completely finished?

i'm guessing he only did the sliding part smoothly but didn't finish making anything else?

could you put these files in mediafire?

The files are located at the bottom of those pages. I was able to download with out logging in. It seems the wallpaper is contained within the swf file as I don't see a way to add different backgrounds. If you tap on the background image it changes it to another one of 4

But...

Great find! Finally a Music.swf that really takes full advantage of the S9's screen. The coverflow landscape mode didn't change at all on my S9. Was it supposed to with this music theme? There also doesn't seem to be a way to lock it to portrait view.

What sucks is that the person who made this WORKING coverflow hasn't released anything in regards to it.

Creator's name is Life Is Pure (or ckdgns1003) and has released some other THEME but not this fixed coverflow...

El maco has done this amazing Music/Browser screen. His cover-flow is amazing, and I'm sure this guy is gonna tweak it so it can respond as fast as the video link i posted.

Here's the link to El Maco's work. http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=25094&page=2

P.S. going to the bottom of the page, you'll see pics and the link to download his masterpiece. =)

I wouldn't go as far as calling it a masterpiece, but I'm glad you like it [blush]

The function responsible for loading the album art is implemented in the Cowon's firmware, not in the UCI itself. AFAIK there's absolutely nothing that can be done to speed it up... Unfortunately, when the UCI requests for a cover art image, the execution of other code stops until S9 has finished loading. Thus, to keep the animation smooth, my browser waits until the movement has stopped until new images can be loaded (hence the "pop up" effect).

So I'm sorry to say but I have no idea of how they have managed to make the browser in the video respond so quickly... It would be really interesting to see that in real life, so hopefully someone finds it before long :)

This is exactly what the iPod Touch does, no?
I believe that the iPod Touch has the smoothest coverflow out there, and if you have ever used it, you will notice that at first, all of the albums do not show the art at first, but a gray square with a music note inside of it. The images then load one by one.

...which is why Coverflow is stupid and useless. Give me the real shit like on the Walman X-series.

Nothing will ever beat real text browsing in terms of actual usability. I'd like mini-thumbnails with the album title on the side. Am I wrong, or does Zune have this?

EDIT:

You know what I would like on the Cowon S9 instead of coverflow, us prior D2 users used it and loved it ;)!

http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=24183

Ultimate Mod

Was the best Music UI EVER in my opinion, on any device.
Despite it's own (non-working) coverflow, the main attraction was that you could browse your albums like coverflow but in a detailed vertical form. Why is this special, the vertical coverflow WORKED; moreso that you could browse by albums (unlike the S9 which only does songs), no matter how deep. You slid through your albums, selected one, a song list would pop up, and once you selected your song the Now Playing screen would show up. You literally NEVER used Cowon's browser EVER but the UI's browser itself.

Everytime I see it, I sometimes wonder if I should have just kept the D2...

...

..aw well, I still love my S9 and glad I bought it.
What's so surprising is that NO ONE (Korean or otherwise) has bothered trying to bring Ultimate Mod from the Cowon D2 to the Cowon S9.
We have a few unique music UI's (like Curve S) and other MP3's UI's (P2/P3 was mimicked to a T)... why not bring the music.swf of Ultimate Mod from the D2 and conform it to Cowon S9 (larger screen could make things a bit more interesting). I wouldn't mind using bat programs again...

In actuality, it's kinda understandable why. Nova was the only one who might have been able to do it and maybe the guy who made Curve S, yet both have been missing for a very long time...
On this side of Cowon though, Claw and FDX could possibly do it but it's kinda too much to ask. Both are heavily involved with thier current projects...

im well aware of that, thanks though

they really couldnt have it any other way because the technology just wouldnt exist in other headphones...im sure sony will release alternate headphone models that work with the x-1000 though

And the second thing is: I'm new to ActionScript, I'm still not experienced in that stuff. I learn it while I program my UCI^^

the music screen with the picture slideshow (if nobody answered it... didnt read all the posts [blush])

its actually cowon's own UCI
all you gotta do is put more than one picture in WMP.. or anything that let you tag more than one pictures for the cover i guess .. i used WMP so cant really tell
