s9 broken?

I have had my S9 for about a month now with fairly light usage. I've seen it charge when hooked up to my laptop, and since it's last charge I've used it no more than 5 hours. I wasn't able to turn it on this morning, plugged it into every computer in the house and it is not recognized, even by the laptop it originally installed itself on. (mix of vista and XP computers) It gives no indication that it is on or functioning at all. I have little or no technical experience and have not been messing with it, was there a firmware update or something I missed? Did it just simply die on me? What is going on?

So my daughter informed me there is a reset button on the back of the s9, and it works now. Does anyone have any idea what happened?
