View Full Version : o2 and music with PS3
Ok, I was messing with some video formats today, playing them from my o2 using my ps3. The videos looked very good. I was pretty impressed. Anyway, I went over to listn to some music, and for whatever reason, my ps3 would not recognize my songs. It would pull up the music folder, open to the artists, then albums, then.....nothing. It went through the normal file browsing, and didnt find any song. MP3, FLAC, whatever. Anyone know whats up?

I'm no ps3 guru, however, knowing how closed source sony (and microsoft for that matter) are, I can tell you that never in a million years as long as sony exists will you see a ps3 support flac. I mention microsoft as well because with my pc, obviously wmp doesn't support flac (wmp is stupid and i don't use it anyway) so i have to use vlc media player. Also when i go to look for a flac file, windows doesn't even bother to sort my flac files by their proper tags! [cursing]
Yeah, I def see that with the FLAC, just not the mp3's. Its weird.
kasrhp, maybe it has something to do with ID3 tagging? I don't have a PS3, but if you've done any tagging to your MP3s, maybe you have to un-tag them... or at least, take off the cover art?
Just a guess, but with MP3s, most times the problems lie in tags.
Hopefully I've offered some useful advice. Otherwise, burn this posting after reading [laugh]
Ive tried some troubleshooting with it. I think MM might be the problem. Im going to sync with WMP, maybe try drag and drop and see what happens. Its funny though because i sync my ipod video with MM and the ps3 picks it up no problem.

yes but there you have it:
.....cowon......sony......apple.........[laugh]
I really think sony is much more concerned about it's devices playing nice with apple products than with cowon products......[rolleyes]
I guess I forgot to mention. It plays video through it fine, can upload pics to ps3 from it fine, and search the docs fine, just the music.
