View Full Version : Where to buy? Online or New York?
I thought Id keep this separate from my thread with technical questions (sorry to mods if them's not the rules here ;) ).
So where should I buy an m3 or m3l? From a store in New York next week, or should I rely on an online delivery to Ireland?
I think I can get one shipped from the States with a one-year warranty for about $300, which is considerably cheaper than buying from amazon UK. Or am I missing some obvious sites?
Thanks again,

its always better to buy in person. unless the online price is way cheaper.
Thanks mate. That's what I thought but US prices work out about $100 cheaper, even with shipping costs, etc.
Ideally, my parents could pick it up in New York next week and chat in person to the store about warranty issues and so on. But I dont like their chances of locating one - unless any locals know of any recommended stores in the area?

Some things to consider when deciding:
Shipping Costs
Insurance
Import Duties
If your parents are gonna be in New York then forget all of the above (especially Import Duties ;) )
£75 import tax is what i had to pay 7 months ago for a $399.00 item from the US.
Buying from a store in NYC will likely to be more expensive than getting it from online, i got both of mine for $349 each from Yahoo, used the money saved to buy the Shure E3C and came back to London all happy! :)

ya you should just buy it in person, as everyone has already stated here for so many reasons, shipping costs, taxes, insurance! Better have it with ur parents and not some truck/plane where it might get lost or somethin! im always paranoid with the postal service incase they lose something important of mine :p hah
but ya get your parents to buy it...itll deff come out cheaper too

I am selling mine. Please check it out. It is a 40 GB. Located here: http://iaudiophile.net/viewtopic.php?id=344 . Rarely used I know it says $550 but we can negotiate.
Sorry mate, I already bought one from the web the other day and its currently en route to Ireland. Hope someone else sees your offer though.
Thanks to everyone for the advice. I ended up getting an M3 with cradle shipped for $320 from suntec cos my parents were really confused when trying to find one in NY. Cant wait for it to arrive now.
Funny thing - last time I was in New York, I ducked into a couple Times Square electronics stores and saw the most amazing rip-offs I've ever seen. They were selling Internet Explorer 2.0 Plus (back when MS was trying to sell it) for $20, and the iRiver SlimX 550 I was considering at the time (which was a very new product) was $350.

haha reminds of me buying ANYTHING from airport stores (dont even get started on the electronics though)..haha they tell you its DUTY FREE but they raise the price high enough that you're paying more than you ever would WITH the taxes :p
I bought my M3L + shipping + brokerage fees (i live in Canada) and it still came out to lower than i would have had to pay for an M3 without Cradle in the airport!!

Hi Vladi,
I also ordered my M3 at shopsuntec. It arrived within 5 days after I paid them in Holland! Hope yours will arrive soon!
Yeah, thanks Ellen - I actually saw first heard of them from one of your old posts. Major respect :)
