How do you find using it on a daily basis? Do you find the plastic too cheap? I am quite interested in buying a Cowon S9 only for music+videos, as a substitute for my iPod touch. Is audio quality amazing non amped?
look at the first impressions thread right below this in the main s9 section. Many people including me have posted their experiences with the s9 and will probably answer most of the questions you have.

I personally feel that an S9 if you already have an iPod touch seems....overdoing it. A small Sandisk clip or something might be better
Never heard anyone say a plastic DAP feels cheap until the S9, now everyone asks about it. Hurray cnet for starting it off. It's very very light (funny how iPods are meant to be awesome for being so light and thin), but the plastic itself doesn't feel cheap and i'd prefer to drop an S9 than a touch as it'd have less follow through to do more damage.

When I first got it, I loved that it felt light and I loved how it felt in my hand. (Is the curve design an ergonomic thing?) It didn't seem heavy, big or bulky. I don't think it feels cheap or plastic-y at all. But, then again, I've never held an iPod Touch (assuming that's the comparison people are making). [unsure]

itouch feels like a bag of stones in your pocket after i got the S9.
I too read the Cnet preview/review before getting mine on the 23rd. I was pleasantly surprised with a solid, non plasticy well built feeling. sure it's not the touch but from my experience the itouch is a flat, WIDE, clunky brick. this has some character and doesnt feel cheap at all.

Ugh, Cnet is misleading :( I just want the Cowon as an mp3 player and nothing else, I only want quality.
Then get the D2. it's more than suitable and cheaper.

Oh and movies, forgot to say[blush]
The S9 has the best screen (contrast, colour) and most people say it sounds amazing. If thats what you want to have then you should pick it.
As mentioned befor look up the other threads.
I don't understand why everyone (Cnet included) compares every new player which has a touchscreen with the iPod Touch.
The S9 and the iTouch are completly different things; The iTouch is more for having thousands of functions in ONE unit, it's a multi functional device for everyone who want to have internet everywhere; The S9 is adjusted for photos, movies and music and manages every function it has fantastic. THAT is for me a PMP. The iTouch is more a portable computer than another thing.
And so I don't understand why Cnet said, that the S9 feels like a cheap build. Only because it isn't made of metal and isn't as heavy as the iTouch it feels cheap? That's not a reason for me, sorry Cnet.

Since it's an OLED screen :D Ultra thin, and no need for a backlight. Epic :)

Well the touchscreen is the same technology, the capicative (Spelling error) screen. One that requires electrostatic. I actually do agree with you, maybe because Apple are well known, and the iPod touch is one of the most popular mp3 players on the market. It's like when we were comparing phones, we would compare it to a Nokia N95, one of the best phones. Both devices are extraordinary in my opinion.
