cowon says that the titanium has a grippy feeling is this true and does it really make a difference?.
and i havent got it yet but buying very soon. but what does UCI mean (user customizable interface). can u make your own interface and if i download the themes created by you guys will it have any problems. and 1 last question im using jvc marshmellows will i be able to hear the difference between thje ipods and this. i do have a keen sence of sound. i play a instrument and can kinda tell the difference between 128kbps and 192. and were can i download flac and ogg and stuff.

titanium has a soft back and it feels nice. chrome has a somewhat glossy back. if you have seen that black-glossy back from cell phones or other electronics, it has kind of a non-soft feel if you know what i mean. but chrome does have a nice look. i didn't get chrome though because i think that its prone to scratches and a lot of fingerprints.
UCI means that you can create your own interface hence user created/customizable interface. and yes you can take the UCIs in this S9 forum and just throw it in your S9 and you should get that UCI instead of the original.
and for the last question.. i dont know what JVC marshmellows is, but i can tell you that after listening to the S9, i can no longer back down to anything. not even my laptop. so i listen nearly everything through my S9 if it's music related. I've never owned an ipod product (maybe but a video, but that's too old to be compared) but about 100% of the people who bought a Cowon product say that its much much MUCH superior over the any ipods' sound quality

yeah. i ordered over amazon. i think amazon just means the side is silver colored (and yes it is). it's not authentically titanium btw, but neither is chrome authentically chrome covered.
you can buy 8 GB titanium version through jetmall free of shipping i believe.

yeah. titanium version. most of the time its brown, but if you shine it in the light it turns grey at times lol.

I'm really happy with titanium. If the chrome had become available first, I'm not sure what I would've done. [confused]
I love how it feels in my hand. Like Uphaillife said, it's feels "really smooth."
I get the sense that because of the color, some people think that the texture must feel like granite or limestone. [laugh] It doesn't.

But then again (iirc) nobody had both versions in his hands and was able to compare, right? I mean, how are we supposed to know the chrome feels less smooth?

They are talking about the texture/feel of the back cover...
The chrome version has a Glossy looking back versus the one on the Titanium which appears to be matted.

Personally I'm tired of "shiny" and fingerprint loving products, I'm happy with my good old matte :)

It's a rubberized material which is used on a lot of products these days. I first saw/felt it on an IBM Thinkpad laptop PC. It is a matt (dull) finish, but it is also soft and smooth to the touch. And it's tough as nails. Pretty cool stuff.

Ok, so I've seen the tiatnium version over the net and I'm a little iffy about getting it, because the pictures make it look like its moca/coffee colored down the sides. Furthermore I would like to know if that play button at the top of the player is also the same shade as the sides. If anyone who has one could take a picture of it and put it on here so I could see (I really dont trust the customized pictures that promote it) I heard the back is soft and such, and i feel like that could save the players life if it fell, but I'm also prone to preferring a chrome/ legit silver look which is as i stated before why I'm unsure as to whether I should pick this player up. Thank you for your time reading this and possibly helping me come to a decision.
Lysander,
My personal opinion - Titanium is the shiz. I don't own one myself but my friend has one and it makes me salivate every time I play around with it.
Brown? Uphaillife thinks so and he owns one, so who I am to say otherwise. Every time I see it, it looks a cool grey, but then I only see it under the diffuse lighting of my office.
The main thing about it is how it feels, the plastic on the underside feels really nice. You don't want to put it down.

haha yeah. it depends on the lighting. it looks tremendously sexy when its a cool grey. i think dull lighting usuallly gives a grey color.

I definitely prefer the Titanium version. I hate glossy black...first, it shows a ton of fingerprints and second, it scratches easily. The titanium version has the soft backing that is great to the touch and it doesn't scratch when sitting it on hard surfaces. I'm glad that the version we got in the states is the version I prefer!
Some comparison pics between the two.

mhmm...thx for the pictures and you know, the chrome looks amaaazzingly shiny, yet the titanium s9 looks so inconspicuous that it's a lil charming lol argh I'm gonna have a hard time deciding which one I'd prefer :(
do i choose chrome so that when people see something shiny with a touch screen in my hand they go WTF?! so I can tell them it's NOT an itouch or do i want titanium which has all the class of a seemingly subdued high powered sports car...

I think they both look great. Im really fond of the all matte finish though. No fingerprints and doesnt scrathch much. I admit its a tough choice but in the end the titanium won out on the checklist test. Now I cant wait to get it in my hands lol.
easy solution...buy BOTH :D
jk lol but yeah it was really awesome of Cowon to give people a choice in finishes like that..
Here's a video look at the Chrome version.

I have the titanium S9 and i think it's great. The sides are grey with a bit of brownish. And i bought the titanium because it was the first S9 on the marked (Europe). But now i have it i think it's also the one i would pick if both were available. It's Just different to all other players around and the chrome makes it look big on the sides so that's not what i want. Also titanium is more fingerprint resistant. I say leave chrome to the ipods.
What i also want to say is that there is some much crappy information (build quality, looks etc. )about the S9 going around that i think people who have doubts about buying a S9 should try to look at one at a shop or friends.
