My o2 is only reading about 2/3 of my album art. It is really weird because all of my album art has been tagged the same way from MM, So I do not get why its shows some, but not others. Any ideas at what I should look at? Thanks

if you have a .jpg in the folder it should work fine?

What's the naming format for the album art image? I think it's "folder" but I'm not 100% sure.

I've only ever had an x5 before and it got pretty effed up before I could really run rockbox and have the album art show up...

I tag all my mp3s with MP3Tag, and when I last updated the firmware (to 1.17) some of my music didn't show their embedded cover art, but they worked fine on the previous firmware. I dragged the songs from my computer (where I store most of what is on my O2) and overwrote what was on the player. The cover art appeared correctly. It seems when I updated the firmware, it affected a couple of the songs.

Hope that helps you a little bit :)

That might be it. I do have the newest firmware. I will try that.

I have an album.jpg file in all my album folders. 250-500px width/height, otherwise they pixelate. Better than relying on ID3/MP3Tags.

Sure you do not mean cover.jpg???

Would not want to confuse people more than they might be...

well queue might have made a typo but it's certainly possible to have Alive.jpg in the album folder Alive and it displays.......

<anything>.jpg displays. As far as I know. I tried using PNG album art, didn't work. The Music App probably picks up if there are any .jpg files in the folder and sets it as Album Art for all audio files within.

I'm very serious that I use album.jpg in all my folders, each obviously a different album cover and it shows.

Maybe I was one of those people who got the defective O2s that actually work.

It will if the JPG has the same name as the folder it is in or the album art is embed in the file or the JPG is named cover.

Having album art file named folder.jpg never worked with the D2.

Do your files have the album embedded? You could check by using a program like Mp3tag to check...You could also just remove the JPG you have in the album folder and see what happens too..

I am just curious, because there has been a lot of new posts about album art problems...

On the O2, if you have audio files of any type, you can have a .JPG file in the same folder with the same name as the file, and it'll show. For my FLAC files, I have a bunch of them in a folder, each with different album art, so I have a .JPG for each .FLAC, and they all show the correct album art.

So in a folder, for example, I have this:
Melody - Simple As That.FLAC
Melody - Simple As That.JPG
Capsule - Pleasure Ground.FLAC
Capsule - Pleasure Ground.JPG

...and so on, and no problems.

This probably isn't documented, but I think I did mention this in another thread, can't remember offhand.

Hope this helps some of you [yes]

Well, it was actually really easy to take care of. I got mp3tag, used it to check for my album art. It found all the tracks that I guess were not "properly" tagged. Then I went back to MM, found the songs and retagged them. (i think mm is still easier to use than mp3tag). Thanks for all the info though.

Some of my Albums have album art embedded (via iTunes) but it looks like any .JPG files within the folder replaces it. I've seen what happens when I remove the JPG file, it returns to either the embedded or the default animating CD. [yes]
