no you can't. you can only get it from the korean firmware. dictionary won't be useful to you anyways if you're not korean. it does korean <-> english. so no english <-> english.
"You'll need the Korean firmware and the dictionary files. Dictionary only comes in Korean and English. Full version has Korean audio, lite does not.

so why in the world did Cowon decided to exclude the dictionary (along with DVB support) from the european version of S9?
For dictionary: How many europeans wants a korean-english dictionary?
For DMB (not DVB): DMB is allmost only usefull in korea (dunno any other country using it). Of course they could have used DVB for european version but DVB is still only usefull in a few countrys, like Germany and I think GB.

i'm living in the UK so a DVB would be VERY useful. as regards the dictionary my main point is a normal english dictionary wherein you can search the meaning of a word and not any korean-to-english (or vice versa) dictio.
Wait for COWON to release v4.xx Firmware and then DAB will work. You can't expect COWON to release everything in just a few weeks.

there is a english-english dictionary, that you need to purchase.
Well, shound't the box list DAB? If it doesn't then COWON has only released the standard model.
[blink] you have to purchase the eng-eng dictionary?? We'll see how long that lasts lol

You know, I don't think that guy really ever had an S9. Probably an iPod fanboy trolling the forum.
