View Full Version : S9 - Do we know if it will Bluetooth pair with a mobile?
Has anyone been able to work out from the limited info available if it will pair with a mobile, allowing calls to be received and made via S9's mic? I do this with my Samsung T9 and it's a great function for me. Means I never miss any calls and I don't even have to remove my iems as sound is transferred to them

That is one function I would like if I had a Samsung P2.
I believe that the information we have now says that the S9 does not have that capability. But, as we discussed in the ridiculously long S9 thread, it does seem possible to add S9-phone bluetooth pairing in a future firmware release, but we seem to think it is unlikely that Cowon would do such a good/smart thing.
im a happy owner of the 16 gb s9 myself...
Amazing player perfect design...
but it would be nice to see some more apps (bluetooth)
like being able to send files to and from a mobile or orther mp3...
if they dont make it more functional in future firmware updates think the HYPE will be short lived..

hello to all of you (i am a new one here, and i really want your help)
MeTaXo , you want to say that i cannot send a file via bluetooth in cowon S9 ?[sad] (for example an mp3 file)
no it can't. it only supports bluetooth headsets - at least at the moment. Hopefully they will expand it's capability since it has a lot of potential.

You can't send files across to a mobile phone, it's for pair headset only. But this can be changed with firmware if they decide to release support for it.

If you sent it to cowonamerica you'll get an automated response and they'll put your email in the special filing cabinet...aka the trash [laugh]
LOL [rofl]
im not sure it would be possible tho. even with the p3, you can only pair with Samsung phones afaik.. (could be the same for p2, but not sure)
so maybe there has to be some special component/profile that needs to be on the phone too? [confused]

Both my 16gb Samsung P2 and T10 pairy with my Sony Ericsson w890i with no problems, with Motorola S9 and Jabra BT620, and my Belkin Tunestage... It IS a tradeoff definitely as I rarely take the music off my head :) and taking the calls direct from the player in the middle of song is a great option. It is all about supporting the protocols. Furthermore, I make calls direct from my player, with the phone in one of my pockets... :)
So, FYI, it is not just Samsung phones, but BT protocol in general. I wish Cowon fixes this issue, along with playlists, so I can get one.. ;)
Take care :)

I have bad news...Dominic,they sent me a reply and here it is :
Thank you for using COWON S9.
I am sorry to tell you that COWON S9 suport blue tooth for only headsets and speakers.
Has anyone been able to get the S9 to work with bluetooth car stereos? I imagine it shouldn't be a problem, but my boss has been thinking about getting an S9 just for this purpose.

Ditto.
It pairs with my phone but does nothing. When it pairs with my computer, it plays back music through my speakers.

Ditto again! What capacity is your S9? Mine is 32GB and when I "stream" music from the S9 through my computer with bluetooth it sounds horrible. How's the quality of yours?

Haha! :P I'm just curious if the bluetooth crapiness is due to the different capacity versions of the S9...
"When it pairs with my computer, it plays back music through my speakers."
I can't even pair my S9 with my notebook... and my bluetooth chair (I hope it#'s the right word^^).
I have a Samusng Eternity, and I got to pair my phone with the S9.
My phone recognized the S9 and suprisingly my S9 also recognized my phone, but when I tried moving files back and forth, it failed.I hope Cowon does make file transfer possible in the future :)

I can but I have a multi-pairing headphone (Jabra Halo).

I have the 16GB and using firmware 2.50. The quality is alright, I mean definitely no where as good as playing it back on the computer, but still acceptable. For the record, I'm using the Targus Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR Bluetooth USB dongle and Win. 7 Pro. x64. I plugged in the dongle to my laptop running Windows XP Pro SP3, it didn't stream the music to my laptop speakers.

Are there any good *closed* multi-pairing phones?
Or best of all, an around-neck multi-pairing transciever I can use with my own phones?
