I have a very strange problem with my D2 16GB 2.57: from one day to the next, I noticed that the files in my 16GB SD card were not showing up in my D2 track list, either browsing by ID3 tags or folders. I thought it was a problem with that card, so I tried another 16GB one I had with mostly classical music, and the problem was the same, except that only a few files were still visible.
So, back at home I plugged my D2 to the computer and to my surprise, all files were there in the corresponding folders, both internal memory or the card. A card file system check showed no errors, both in the D2 or using a card reader.
So, all files appear normally in the PC (either using the D2 or a card reader), but the D2 only sees the ones in the internal memory. Moreover, if I try to search using folder browsing, I can get up to the subfolders for each of my albums in the SD card, but when attempting to list its content on the D2, it freezes and the only way out is to switch it off.
I have tried many things:
- Using the PC I moved files from internal memory to the card in MSC mode, and they don't show up anymore when in the card (except when connected to the PC).
- tried reformating the card with the Panasonic formatter (I always used it before).
- tried a small 128MB card.
- tried connecting in MPC mode: the folders and subfolders of the card appear empty when opening them from the PC (only appear in MSC mode)
- tried to copy files from PC to D2 card using MPC mode: gives a file system error.
But none of the things I tried made any difference... my D2 don't show anymore the files in the cards. One week ago it was working perfectly... I have not done anything with the exception of loading a few more folders in the internal memory.
I believe it must be a software problem, because if it were a hardware one (problem with the card slot for instance), the card content could not be read when the D2 is connected to the PC in MSC mode.
I am afraid that the only thing left to try is to reload the 2.57 firmware, but before doing that I wanted to hear oppinions... So, has anybody seen this problem before?
Thank you in advance for your hep!
I searched the forums for something like this and could not find anything similar.
