Hi all.
Post to introduce myself as a new Cowon D2 user. Wanted to buy a Zen, but after reading many many many pages on fora and review sites (like anythingbutipod.com) had become very intersted in a Cowon D2 player. The player is praised for its superior sound and high loudness (which I like, since I want to connect it to a nice stereo sound system as well). Also the player has good SDHC support (integration in library). I needed 32 GB since I have approx. 27 GB of music, so I ordered the 16 GB version and still need to get 16 more on SD.
Day 1. So happy that I got my player. I started uploading music, took ages (+45 min) But finally it was ready. Unplugged player and started it. My total database totally corrupt!, very frequent hangups etc.etc. I was starting to get really frustrated. Finally I read a lot about the ID3 tag issues. So started to get mp3 tag and after some hours of editing, all my mp3tags were changed and also ordered well (it really helps your library to have a neat ordering!!!).... And I was very pleased that everything finally worked!.
When trying a lot of stuff (when changing the id3tags) I found that if u have a corrupt database you will have to delete the files you put on last (since they corrupted the system) and you can do a reset to industry-settings! This clears all your settings, but the rest of your music stays on your player! Afterwords, your DB is totally renewed and the database is not corrupt anymore, this can save a LOT of time, since you don't have to upload ALL your music again!!!
So now, I am a happy consumer... :) I love the player, bought the cowon leather case and installed an oraniser on it!
One remark, I hope they can fix this, since its really annoying! When I constantly touch the screen, it gets all greasy! Can't they fix this in the new firmware!!?? It would be nice that everytime you turn your player on and off, the fingerprints are gone ... Can this be done? Maybe in the Rockbox :D...
just kidding...
