Hi there!

I bought the D2 mainly for recording purposes. As a dj i often want to record shows at the club or mixtapes at home.

But I encountered multiple times, that if I record longer than ~60 minutes or so, the file is not saved correctly, meaning it disappears and can not be found on th d2.

When I want to stop the recording, I press stop and the filename on the display changes to the next numerical (ENRC0**.wma), which should indicate, that the former file has been successfully saved.

But if i try to access the file with the d2 browser or hook up to my pc, the file cannot be found. I wasted several hours for these non-recordings. [cursing]

Has anybody encountered similar problems and maybe a hint or solution?

(There´s enough memory, automatic sync is turned off ... see my specs in the sig)

Thanks!

I have had no problems recording up to two hours nonstop, using either the internal microphone or an external mic.

I use 128 kbs bitrate, and when I stop the D2, the recording is waiting for me in either the RECORD/VOICE directory (for the internal mic) or in the RECORD/LINEIN directory (for the external mic).

1. Have you looked there?

2. Do shorter recordings work for you?

3. What bitrate do you use for recording?

hi!

3: the problem occurs with either 128 oder 356kbps.

1+2: shorter files do work and i have already recorded many shorter sessions.

Have you tried updating your firmware to 3.57/2.57?
According to the change log, an issue like you describe has been fixed:

3.57
The max number of music files supported has been increased to 3000-4000 for the internal memory and another 3000-4000 for the external memory.
The amount of recording time left is saved in a file, now handles the case of this file being deleted?
Recording should now stop when memory is full (didn't previously when recording @ 32kbps) SD card error correction fixed (only if you're a beautiful woman? :P)
Fixed a problem where searching for a word with definitions off and then re-searching would cause the D2 to reboot

How about 96kbs or 64kbs? Can you record long sessions at those bitrates? Can you record long sessions at ANY bitrate?

thanks

there are only 128 and 256 kbps for line-in recordings.
i havent tried the internal mic recordings at all [no] they´re no use to me.

thanks!

You are mistaken -- line in recordings offer you 32, 64, 80, 96, 128, and 256kbs. Check the settings menu.

yes you´re right. that´s a new feature that came with a fw-upgrade? havent seen that before.

why do you think the bitrate could be related to the problem? filesize?

It *might* be related... I don't know any more than you do. That's why I'm suggesting you try it at different bitrates. Every experiment you try either confirms or eliminates a possibility, and brings you closer to finding out why you can't record long sessions on your D2 while I and others can.
