I don't know what's going on with our old sponsor, shopsuntec.com, but no one has been able to reach them for some time now, including me. Where they've gone, what the problem is, whether they are still in business... it's all a mystery.

If you've been having a problem with your order/product, you'll probably need to contact your credit card company to get a refund.

We would advise against buying anything from the SHOPsuntec.com website at this time.

This is all the info I can find about them, for those of you who didn't pay by credit card...

Today I sent Suntec an email requesting instructions on how to return for refund the I5 2GB player they sold me in April. Cowan has now acknowledged that these units have design defects (although 2GB memory in theory, actual capacity is limited to 450 files+folders, or about the capacity of the I5 1GB model which is about half the price... :( Cowan indicates that retailers will waive return policies in light of the acknowledged design defect (a defect that Cowan is working to resolve but so far no known solutions.) Given the apparent demise of SunTec, I'm guessing I'm stuck with an expensive 2GB I5 that provides no advantage over the 1GB model. (Glad I ordered my wife's unit from PCMALL ...)

Jim Hogan
06-02-2005, 23:17
AND one more note: SunTec did not send a copy of the invoice or a receipt wen they shipped my I5 to me in April, which may make it impossible to take advantage of the Cowon warranty. (I do have my VISA statement showing the debit from SUnTEc, so maybe that will work if needed.)

Kajok: all major credit cards provide fraud protection and usually some protection against getting defective products or no product at all, if you can't resolve it through the company. I've had to do this a few times with Visa and MasterCard, no problem...

austinv
06-03-2005, 15:05
And Kajok: stop spamming the forum. You have put the exact same comment in multiple threads. We get the point, it's been said.

austinv
06-04-2005, 18:27
Austinv sorry, I'll stop when refunded...

Kajok: no, you'll stop now. if you have something new to add, that's fine, but don't post the same thing in multiple threads. that's spamming, and you've been warned.

I placed an order on May 17, 2005 and they were very quick to debit my card and then send an e-mail about processing the order and being sent by 1-3 day priority mail. I tried numerous times to contact them, but to no avail. Finally, I got an e-mail message yesterday that "everyone was out of the country" until today. That has to be the biggest bunch of bull I've ever heard. They swindled everyone who recently paid money for any player. They may have had good service in the past, but now they are just plain crooks. I can'y believe their website is still up accepting new orders when I'm sure there is no intention of sending out any of them. Their BBB logo is also false; I could not find them listed in the rgistry at the BBB site. I hope everyone who placed orders will get their moneyback from their credit card or Suntec.

austinv

sorry about your situation cbutton... as long as you paid by credit card then getting a refund should be easy, through the CC company.

Just to support austinv:

Kajok, if you just wanted to warn other people using this forum, you've done it already. People, who regularly read this forum have already read you warnings. If they don't read it reguraly, there is a sticky post with warning, which they can't miss!

anyone got a refund or anything from Suntec lately?

beatchef
06-08-2005, 17:45
I bought an M3 from them in April. The M3 turned out to be faulty and there was a long dispute between me and them with my credit card company mediating as they would not give me a full refund. The credit card company in the end said settle it with Suntec and get whatever refund you can. I sent it back to Suntec about a month ago with tracking and I kept e-mailing them asking if they'd received it. After no reply for weeks I got:

"Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response…

The person who handles this is out of the country but will be back by the end of this week.

I’ll relay your email once they arrive so they can handle it immediately.

Thank You,

Liz

www.shopsuntec.com"

A week goes by, nothing. I get a good friend in America to call and all of their numbers are down. I see this thread and now i'm having to take it up with my credit card company again and hopefully get something from them, however they're just going to reopen the dispute, but as they seem to be out of business, credit company may have to cough up some money. Currently out $400 plus $30 sending it back to them plus I don't even have the faulty mp3 player. So, it's not looking good for anybody getting a refund..

just received email from Stephanie:

"I've just got back from Japan 2 days ago, I know things are crazy with our X5 members who have pre ordered. We are issuing them refunds today, because SunTec has not received the supply of X5's yet ... I am going to post on the forum today or tomorrow about our situation."

Still waiting for a reply from Suntec.. I have sent plenty of e-mails and asked for a refund. It shouldn't be so hard to cancel an order!

Karline
06-10-2005, 07:56
I can confirm that Stephanie Yi has reappeared, however I am currently having the most inane e-mail exchange with her, which seems to be just a way of stalling to get the rest of the refund to me. To remind: I had gotten just over half of my total USD 364.99 back through Paypal, due to insufficient funds in Suntec's Paypal account. Stephanie first asked what my refund was for, although my previous e-mail string with the request for refund AND all details AND the order number was attached to the reminder she was replying to, so I suggested to her that she read it. Today she is telling me again that she does not understand what the charge is for. I am not sure whst is not to understand in a simple calculation, so I must conclude that they are simply stalling. It is turning into a farce. Will keep you all posted. Maybe she'll work out that USD 364.99 (what I paid) less USD 192.53 (my partial refund through Paypal) equals USD 172.46 (the rest of the refund I have been requesting several times from Suntec now).

Did you use the webmaster e-mail adress? I haven't got a response yet, and believe me, I have sent enough e-mails..

This is what Stephanie told austinv (se earlier in the topic) 9th June: "I am going to post on the forum today or tomorrow about our situation". Today it's 11th and can't see that she has written anything on this forum.. Based on my experience it seems to me like they don't care much.

IF YOU HAD TO WAIT 6 MONTHS FOR A SIMPLE RMA AND THE VENDOR WENT AWOL, YOU'D BE SPITTING & CURSING TOO, BUT IF IT HURTS YOUR EYES THAT BADLY HERE (I'M JUST TRYING TO FIND OTHER FOLKIS IN THE SAME SITUATION HERE AND ALL I GET IS CRITICISM, SOUNDS LIKE YOU PEOPLE WORK FOR SUNTEC LOL):

man these FOOLS jacked me - I ordered an enox tms-600 512mb and it turned otu to have a crappy battery bay door cover. I returned it under their so called lifetime warranty and they said it'd be no problem. Looks like lifetime warratny means it takes a freaking lifetime for them to deal with anything. This was in FEBRUARY of 2005, it is now almost July. First they gave me the bs that they were out of the country - then when they are supposedly back none of their phone contact works, none of their whois info is valid, their administrative contact for their webstie claims they are no lnoger in fact the administrative contact, a search with the operator only turns up a Stephanie Yee, not Yi, in this area. I spoke with her about 4 days ago at whioch time she once again, after abou 6 or 7 other times, told me my return was on the way. Of course I duidn't bleieve her after all the bullshit all numbers are either out of service or cannot receive messages - I've also left pager messages to no avail. I filed a police report with Arlington PD an they said they're worknig on it - If anyone wishes to add to this contact me and I'll see if they can append your info to the report in the case i might help them or any of us get our STUFF back. I've also filed a report of identity theft and online fraud with the BBB.

NOTe: I JUST RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM STPEHANIE IN THE MIDDLE OF COMPOSING THIS MESSAGE - only because I think she didn't recognize the phone number I called from - this person who has lied to me for half a year CLAIMS to have sent my package, again. I won't believe it until I see it. but if anyone wants a nubmer that apparently works, or rather wants her number WHILE it's still working (knowing this place) PLEASE CALL HER NOW - let them know I'm not the only one who has been bitching about and at them without and acknowledgement

STEPHANIE YI - fake sales rep lol - SUNTECINT - 703-930-8485

CALL HER PLEASE

I am looking into tkaing them to court and speaking with a lawyer about this as well if anyone is interested in pursuing this. peace

CALL HER WHILE THE FREAKING NUMBER STILL WRKS AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY REACH SOMEONE BECAUSE JUDGING FROM THEIR HISTORY YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CONTACT THEM FOR VERY LONG.

I'v been asking for my player for six fucking months, two or 3 of which I asked and WAITED for it politely, all the whiel these people have my credit info and are AWOL so I have no fucknig clue what is going on. No shit I started spitting and cursing. Especially when she just contiunes to lie to me the few times i am able to get in touch. she told me 4 days ago on the phone my shit was o the way. She gave me a bogus tracknig number and excuses on the phone earlier today and just sent me an emal with a fucknig bogus tracking number. this is bullshit.

You are aware that it often takes tracking #'s 24-48 hours to show up?

I don't see how the swearing here is helping your case.

NIPPS
06-25-2005, 23:24
uh, yeah - i realize that, tyhis is not my first time shopping onlnie lol. I don't kniw if you read the rest of my posts but it's been SIX MONTHS, during most of which stphanie was never in touch with me to let me know hwat had happened with my rma, my credit info, or anything esle. Sure cursing doesn't help. But after months of being civil and polite and getting jerked around, I'm pissed. As far as tracking infor goes, this info was given to me 24-48 hours ago and is bunk - it's one thing to make up little lies if actual mishaps come up and heed to be dealt with, but to start doling out fake tracking infoi s another. On top of that I'm of course not able to get back intouch wit them now. The only reason Stephanie answered my last call this time in which i got this so called tracknig number is becazsue I called from a different phone number she apparently did not recognixze. Otherwise i get no answer or get the machine. So you know what, I dont need a lesson on the us postal service trackni system or my cursing - I'm jsut trying to find people in the same situation, if you;re not or can't contribute to resovling it some way, I don';t understand why you're in here because telling me what I already know doesn't help. I jsut want my RMA back after 6 freaknig months. I already got lectures from the ihnfamous Stephanie Yi on all that, don;t need it from anyone else. thanks anyway. Now, if there's anyone who actually feels like doing something about this (rather than those of us who obviously have too mcuh time on our hands) please, lets.

NIPPS
06-25-2005, 23:27
the point being, maybe swearining doesn't help, but nothing else has either. i've filed a report with the FTC and the Arlington police dpeartment - neither of which has prevented stephanie from continuing to deceive me, and a lot of other too - she got real money from real people so if all you;re in here to do is criticize, well it's not appreciated. I don't even want to be in this forum in the first place, this is an absolute last resort. I put up with enough from suntec as it is, I didnt come here to listen to useless information doniago.

Kajok, do NOT believe one word this guy Brent Nicholas "NIPPS" is writing on this forum. First off, he is NOT even an iAudio owner. He purchased some Cheap Enox Mp3 player from us a while ago, he then returned it because the battery cover wasn't working. We offered a refund or another player but he only insisted Enox TMS model. I tried my best to help him with the item 512mb which has been long discontinued - this Enox item is non competitive item and we did not sell this item. However, we tried our best with anything we can do by refuding him $70, and offering him 256mb AND on top of that EXPESSSING the mail overnight, but he's been ONLY falsely accusing our business on this forum, been extremely RACIAL with "Asians", AND VERY DIRTY MOUTH, and threatenning. We are reporting him to FBI and local Colorado Police and he's going to be reported.

We are issuing refunds for those of you that have pre-ordered X5's. We have issued much of the refunds, but if you haven't gotten the refunds yet. Please contact webmaster@suntecint.com - please do not email support@suntecint.com.

We will NEVER CHEAT customers, that's our promise. Please understand that due to so low margins, we are not distributing iAudios anymore. We are selling what we have in stock now. However, we won't be continuing iAudio.

Please contact webmaster@suntecint.com if you haven't received the refund yet! EMAIL is the BEST method.

iaudio_brad, i don't see why you intervene... there are tons of people that have been cheated by Suntec! What language they use is their problem. Its a topic warning about suntec and NIPPS' messages are appropriate... I can tell you that I too have been cheated by them... and I feel in the same way NIPPS does! I have to say that Suntec have a nerve to say that they do not cheat customers. I am still waiting for the rest of my refund and have not received any replies to my recent e-mails. I have now put American Express onto the case, after getting nowhere with Paypal.
Until and unless I get a complete refund from Suntec, I will have to conclude that they have been acting incompetently at best, fraudulently at worst.
I have just written to them again. Will let you know if I hear from them.

Heidrun, you got your $192, but waiting for the rest of $172. We've explained to you in email that our Paypal account is limited and although money is sitting there in our account, we cannot process sending payment or withdraw until we resolve w/ Paypal. This process takes few days. Don't be so pessimistic. You can put AMEX to this case, but will not be much of help, because eventually they have to contact Paypal anyhow. And you are NOT the only one that I cannot send, Kajok (Dimitrov) is also waiting for her refund via Paypal. Think considerably, how we did we stay in business IF we meant to be "fraud" company like you say? Why would Itou, or Etienne, or anyone get their refunds and not you? We don't know you personally.

just FYI guys, Suntec sent an email to us (iAudiophile) threatening to sue if we do not remove thier contact information. of course, we do not respond well to threats, especially from a company that took people's money (charged credit cards) for products they never had (iAudio X5). the information was posted here to help our users track down those people behind Suntec who had taken thier money and then completely dissapeared for a month. obviously there are still people waiting for thier refunds/returns, so the contact information will remain.

Suntec: if your paypal account is really frozen or whatever, fine, send these people a check. we will remove your contact information only after iaudiophile users have recieved thier refunds.

Karline
06-28-2005, 07:23
Update:
I have finally heard from Suntec. Just two quotes:
"We haven't been reacheable because operations have changed"
(whatever that means after all the other excuses they dreamt up)

and

"our account is limited and we are resolving with Paypal at this time"
(yes, it has been suspended because of insufficient funds. All they need to do is put sufficient funds into their Paypal account to allow Paypal to refund the customers who have not received their goods or services)

Sue iaudiophile because you publish contact information which is in the public domain anyway? What absolute rubbish. This empty threat only shows that they are not acting in good faith. No professional, respectable commercial operation would even consider such a ridiculous bluff.

Sorry Kajok I was away,
Yes you do have to give your credit card details (I personaly already gave these information when I pre ordered the X5 anyway). It has been safe for me. Despite the desilusion in regards to the X5, SUNTEC was fast and efficient to refund.

I also think it is more than fair for Iaudiophile to keep the Suntec details online and for Suntec to accept it untill everyone has its $ back. Good on you Austinv.

Karline
07-05-2005, 22:12
My refund is still outstanding, and I am certainly not going to give my credit card details to a company, when I have originally been paying via Paypal because of a supposedly enhanced protection. Suntec allege that they have sufficient funds in their Paypal account but so far no confirmation to that effect has turned up from Paypal. If Suntec are really that keen on refunding me and other customers as they allege they are, they can send me a check. After all, they have my address. Unless something turns up within the next four days, I will consult a lawyer.

Karline
07-05-2005, 23:37
Update: I have just spoken with Paypal, who are telling me that if there were sufficient funds in Suntec's account, I would be refunded. Since I am not being refunded, this means that the funds in their account are insufficient.
Buying through Paypal, is, btw, not always a guarantee that you get your money back, as I learnt through this process. Unless you pay for their 'money back guarantee' all they promise is 'best outcome'. In my case this means they just took what they could get from Suntect, and then close the case.
Conclusion: I will not pay anything through Paypal in the future, but pay straight through my Amex card, which seems to have better protection.

I think the aggressive pricing of competitors' products kinda' did them in as far as profitability is concerned. Also, the policy of charging your card before shipping the product and poor communication were not good facets of the company. Generally in the past when you finally reached someone, the customer service was great.

Just to inform, I am still awaiting my refund for an m3 40gb I returned April 19th. It was to be an x5 exchange at the time. I have been communicating with suntec via email this entire time, and making very slow progress. The pattern typically consists of me asking what's going on, I eventually get a response, we make some headway, then suntec asks me for more info, which I provide, then I wait a week and send another inquiry email. We've exchanged 27 emails...

So far they've said I will be refunded, but mentioned nothing as to how, when, or amount. No word from suntec since June 27th. I've been very patient all this time, but not sure how much longer it can last. Here's hoping things work out.

****** THIS IS IMPORTANT********* I am sure their are many people like me who didn't receive a receipt when they ordered their player from suntec, thankfully the good people at cowonamerica are accepting any products that were purchased from suntec without a receipt given within the last few months. simply explain you situation and they should give you the go ahead to send it. Peace. ;)

UPDATE
Just come back from a trip and see from my e-mails that Suntec has finally refunded the balance of the amount they owed me on July 20th. (Their previous e-mail on July 11th, btw, had said "we will issue a refund tonight and you will see it tomorrow", so just another delaying tactic on their part).
For me the chapter is closed but my conclusions stay the same - Suntec is the most incompetent, lying seller I have ever dealt with, and I will not pay through Paypal again if I can avoid it, since they have morphed from a service protecting the buyer to a service for the seller, no matter what their publicity blurbs say.
Good luck to everybody who is still waiting for refund or goods. I hope that the outcome of your cases will be positive, too.
