Very seriously considering getting an A3

but I"m concerned w/ the battery life for long trips where no power is available

are there any removable batteries

or portable solar power packs?

well, first off, there are no removable batteries for the device.

However, you can find generic external battery packs that will work for the device.

Heck, if your skilled or find one of the many howto's on the net, you can make a AA powered external battery pack.

I'm lazy - picked up an extender on eBay. Just do a search for Battery Extender and Cowon A3. May need to substitute A2 for A3. Either way, one should pop up. Four AAs should extend standard battery life by about 14-20 hours more (meaning, anywhere from 21-28 hours for video, total), depending on your use, settings and such.

how long are the trips you're talking about? cause the battery should last at least 8 hours.

or are you camping or something?
