Can anyone identify the TIP on the USB cable that is used for transferring files?

I believe that's a mini-USB A plug.

...err, wait - do you mean the tip of the actual USB line in port or the USB host port?

I am referring to the "line-in" the USB cable that is used for transferring movies, audio files and charging from.

It kind of looks likes a mini-a but is anyone 100% certain?

Yeah it's a mini-a. The cable that comes with the A3 differs a bit from a standard mini-a, it won't fit in other devices. But any standard mini-a cable will work with the A3.

What about that host cable tip? Is it a standard mini-A on the USB host cable?

Host cable tip is standard mini-A.... many many devices use Mini-A including phones.

so unless I am mistaken about this.... this cool little cable would work for re-charging the A3.... they call it a micro USB. I like the term...

I think any USB cable will work for transfers, and charging

I use a normal USB and it transfers faster than the one that came with it, and If I put the A3 in HOLD before I plug in it turns on the charge lamp.

are you saying that you can transfer data via either port?

no, I just plug a normal cable in the weird shaped port

it is just a standard mini-usb port, it's not a proprietry one like most branded players have, so any mini-usb cable will work, like the ones you've got from your cameras at home or from the local store.

same with the AV out, S-video out, and AV-in. All standard cables.

But remember Mini-USB is different to micro-USB
