I'm still holding off purchasing an i5 on the hope that some new US-spec firmware will come out. I know Cowon have probably been busy with the X5 in recent months and therefore haven't been able to give much attention to other products, but we don't even have an official US version of the 1.15 firmware!

They've been updating the X5 like crazy though, but that's probably because it's more important as a product than the i5.

Still disappointing...I want to know that Cowon is dedicated to supporting the i5 before I buy it.

Come on Cowon, show some love to the i5! :)

I think you're right, they're probably concertrating on the X5 because it's more important and it's new and has technical "issues".

My I5 has the 1.15 firmware on it and everything works fine.

It is, however, a valid point that releasing the US version of the firmware which they have already released in Korea would be a simple and easy thing to do.

If they believe that the 1.15 firmware works correctly, they should release the US version. If they DON'T believe that the 1.15 firmware works correctly, they shouldn't have released it in Korea.

True. Compiling American and European versions of the firmware can't be rocket science.

It's seems to be the same as the 1.15 that's already out although when used firmware version is "1.15e".

Still a screen full of nonsense when you install it though...

Think twice before ordering the I5 2GB model. Cowon has acknowledged a design defect (which limits actual capacity to 450 files/folders or essentially about the same capacity as the 1GB model.) See other forum posts about this defect for details. You'd be better off buying two 1GB players .....

Following is copied from Cowon's dowload page and describes FW 1.15e fixes. Can anyone explain if these fixes are worth the effort to replace FW version 1.10a????? It means some effort since I'll have to re-load files to player ....

No, it's a 4.5MB file. Are you absolutely sure you didn't just save the actual hyperlink?

I have thought twice about it, actually, and I don't care. I'm not going to be using anywhere near 450 files. If I can use 200 files and take advantage of at least 1700MB, that's fine with me.
