Cowon Support - "Service" <service@cowon.com> contacted me today with this:

* COWON A3 now supports H.264 HP(High Profile) files with the latest firmware. COWON A3 may not play some contents, however, it will be in progress to be fixed.

I am still not able to get anything except H264 BP to play using the latest Beta firmware 1.18. Anyway I moaned to them about this fact. I had to use their Business Contact form because
I was unable to register on their website (still haven't received their password). They were able to email me though at the same email address.

They were kind enough to reply but they did point out:
This is used for BUSINESS proposals only. If you have further questions, please post them on the Q&A board on our website [SUPPORT - Q&A ]. Then, we will answer your questions and help you as much as possible.

To which I replied that I was unable to access their system and also that
potential business partners will find negative opinion of their product
on numerous forums if they don't deliver what they promised. Oh well,
maybe extra grumbing will hasten their progress.

I do by no means mean to sound like a dick, but they are working on it. They do care, and they are going to fix it eventually.

To top this off, it's pretty obvious that the AustinV knows a little something we don't, because he explicity said the A3 doesn't support MP and HP (YET).

I have reported this to my contact at Cowon. Their engineers are aware of the problem and are looking into it. Most likely it can be corrected via a firmware patch. Given Cowon's track record I'm confident they will get it figured out in due time.

He has a contact at cowon. You should relax, they are fixing it. It's not like there's any products that are close to perfect nowadays anyways. It's just part of being an early adopter.

But, if it had been months, and we hadn't even seen a firmware update, and Austin didn't make any sticky post, I would be pissed off too.

If we don't see support in a few months, I'll grab my internet torch and take to the internet streets, but I see no reason to get angry yet.
