I was wondering if there would be any change or upgrade that would make the file organsiation more in the style of artist, title, genre etc rather than having folders as this in my opinion is a better option.
Thanks

You are refering to id3 tag browsing. Do a search on this forum and you will find no less than 100 post on this topic. In short....Korea has no need for id3 tag info so it is not included in the firmware. It is on the wish list but no one knows for sure if it will ever be included. File browsing is not so bad. I have never used it but currently my music library is filed by artist and Genra. So on my x5 I have folders for Aerosmith, U2, Creed, Metallica....and in the have playlist that sort by genre. You quickly adapt. (it's kinda of a human thing...we are very adaptable)

In theory it's better because it's closer to how the human mind thinks. In practice having all files in one folder, and then having the system sort/filter those files ... potentially significantly slower and resource intensive.
Try it out on a super fast 3.4GHz computer with 15000 RPM SCSI drives. You'll still notice a difference in speed between one folder with 12000 files, versus the same 12k files split up into multiple subfolders, when pulling up or sorting the list of files.

I thought I'd replied to this as well, at 11am?!
How strange.
All files in one folder? Does anyone do that?

That would be crazy.
I do have a "Misc" folder with the likes of POP, Rock etc . . . where I've dumbed lots of WMA files but that's because I can't be bothered to organise my Misc folder.
@ Lone Chicken my mind doesn't think like that!
@ chrissy123 - Yes
I have a misc folder for artists that I only have 1 or 2 songs of, if I have some songs that don't go into albums I just put them into the root of the artists folder.

How many subfolders can you have in each folder?

I hate it when I come off sounding authoritative. Sorry. I was implying more of the iPod type of people's thinking...which makes up a significant amount of mp3 player owners.

Sorry my mistake then. It can be really to not sound authoritative when in text.
