in the music playlist

Although it has a higher version number, it seems to have the similar/same date as the v1.43 version. Also the fixes seem similar to those of v1.43...

HI

It seems that this is an Update to the Bootloader. With FW 1.43 the Bootloader was 1.40. And after this Upgrade the firmware and the bootloader will be 1.44. Not sure what this will change...

I upgrade to fw 1.44 and now i can't use the internet on my Q5. It gives me all the time DNS error! This happens both with wifi connection and usb (activesync). I made twice recover.... I tried the old fw 1.43 and 1.42 but nothing.... Always i get this error... Is it a bug? What can i do? Please help me!

(I also noticed that ie shows this at the status bar: Res://\windows\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm)

I don't know if this will help... but for some reason even though I can pick up wi-fi without the antenna extended, I might get an error, but when I pull it out, it works... I don't know what to say about the status bar error tho...

Well u are supposed to have the antena extended to use wi-fi. I would go into Internet options(load IE/View/Internet Options) and enter in a valid internet address in start page.

Try going to View---->Internet Options--->General= Set User Agent "Same as Windows XP," then restart the q5w. Some say "PocketPC" works better for them; however, I find many websites will not load on that setting. "Windows XP" works on every site I've thrown at it, except YouTube (videos won't fully load, website loads though). This was part of "Web Browsing not so friendly on q5w" forum. I was having the same problem until I changed the UserAgent deal. That should fix your woes [thumbsup][yes][rofl]

Also guys: I found I need to manually enable WLAN connection every time I boot the q5w since upgrading to 1.44. The antenna icon on the lower right taskbar of the Cowon interface is not outlined (meaning it is disabled) after booting the q5w up. A simple tap will prompt the user to "enable WLAN." I haven't found a way to keep it enabled boot to boot. I think 1.44 did this on purpose, as a means to save battery life. If others find this to be the case as well, make sure you enable WLAN before trying to connect to your network. Apparently, even when WLAN is "disabled," the wifi manager will still recognize networks; but, will not allow you to connect to them without formally enabling the WLAN.

Is it possible to damage my Rom by installing 3rd Party software?

Have you tried running an antivirus/spyware app. Connect the Q5 to your PC and run a scan on the Cowon. If it as caused by spyware you may need to run WinSock after cleaning although I'm not sure about Win CE. Here is a link http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html. I can't imagine you would damage anything running third party software once it reputable and was written to run on Win CE. I think the worst that could happen is that it won't run(it's a given that the 3rd party app is from a reputable source).

BTW I to have changed the User Agent to "Win XP" also and have no problems viewing YouTube videos, in fact it works pretty well. I have seen others report they cannot load videos from YouTube. Maybe it the size of the video in question that matters, I don't know but I have not had a problem yet.
