Hey Danson, can you tell me where you got your X5 ? At different-productions.ch or at azone.ch ? How was the service ? And how did you pay ?
Yes!

Ah I see, but I live in Geneva and I don't go to Bern very often nor Zurich. I thought you bought online that's why. Did you check on the 20GB version's price ?

The price is alright, but at different-productions.com , they have them around 23CHF cheaper, plus shipping is free. I think I might my X5 there.
Whew, good to know that my X5 is not defective!
@shaka_1205:
http://www.labonneaffaire.ch have the best prices in switzerland (for iaudio) at the moment, I think.
Danson, going by the current exchange rate that's not much more (roughly 20 quid) than the cheapest price for a 20GB X5 in the UK, no published price for the 30GB but sounds like it will be more than yours!
That was actually in response to the 598 ch fr so 548 would be MUCH cheaper!

@Tombo or other European users,
Do you have any experience with labonneaffaire.ch (shipping / return policy) ?
because that's the best price i've seen so far in europe for the U2.

@Tombo:
You're correct, they do have the price for the X5 in Switzerland at the moment, however I already knew that. But the thing is, that they don't have it in stock yet, and I'm getting tired of waiting, and for "only" 25CHF more, I can get it in 2-3 days.
Anyway, it was kind of you for the info.

It took me a while to figure out what "shacking" was. I think you mean shaking. Why are you shaking it anyway? That's really not something very good for it.

I'm sorry I really don't, I've never use IM services before. Its not a problem if you can't email it to me, I should be getting it next week anyway. Thank you for trying to help me out though.
BTW, is there any problem with the eq or is that only with FLAC?

Try this link... never used this service before, but apparently it works OK. You have to click the "FREE" button and then wait 60 seconds for the link.

Could someone post the manual on this site or something? I'd like to see it too, and I'm sure there are plenty of others. If Cowon would post it already we wouldn't need to ask...
Edit: Sorry Blackflag, I didn't see your post. Thanks!

@korinengell: i try to use the leo dictionary in order write correctly... but still not as bad as the X5 manual ;) i was only shaking it lightly, because i don't like moving parts. As cowon CEO i would never let a device out, which fails this test! its purely psychological (leo)

Don't worry, everybody understood what you meant. Korinengell's had trouble understanding english in other threads as well.
anyway, you're right. The language in X5 manual is hilarious. I had no idea I was getting a "MP3 Player with a super huge storage capacity." And I was a bit puzzled about needing to "open windows search" to upload files.

first evening for the X5
Hello, got a question that's maybe been asked before, but when I have the x5 in my possession, must I first charge it or must I first drain the battery completely? or something else?
thanks

You don't need to completely drain Lithium-ion batteries between charges, some manufacturers even advice that it is better not to let them drain all the way down.
The important thing is to fully charge the battery before you use it for the first time. Btw, it will reach full capacity first after a couple of charge cycles.

learn everything about batterys
if i don't fully charge the battery before i use it the first time, will the battery be damaged?
sorry if this has been answered, couldnt find it here or at http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-12.htm

I cannot say that it won't cause damage. That said, I've skipped the initial full charge on some of my stuff cuz I was just too anxious to get to play with them. Such as my Nikon D70 - I have two identical batteries, one was fully charged before use, the other was not. I cannot see any difference in performance between the two.
With the X5, though... That battery is not as easily replaced, and I figured just to be on the safe side, I'd hold my horses and charge the battery according the instructions. They wouldn't tell us to fully charge it unless there was a reason.
on the first charge, do lithium-ion batteries require a longer (8 hour) charge like some other types of battery or is it a normal 3 hour charge?
hhmmm... I'm a bit worried about that strange sound too! Feels like something inside is not properly attached. I don't think its the 'hold'-button, its something more inside the middle of the X5. Almost as if you'd turn an old philips cassette tape back and forth. Something's got a screw loose in there... nobody else but me and Danson has this problem?
I hear it to but it's only the hold button, it's supposed to slide up and down so I wouldn't expect it to be completely solid.
It's nothing that I wouldn't give it a second thought.
It's definitely not the Hold button. Shaking it transversely to the sliding motion of the hold button is what makes the noise.
I was thinking it might be some kind of shock absorbing mechanism?

I hope it's not a defect. I've got the sound too when I shack it.
Probably if we all have it, then it's ok.
sounds like a minidisc is in there, huh?

I got my X5 yesterday and just noticed that there is a sound from the inside when it is shaken slightly. I got worried thinking that when I dropped it last night is what caused it. But I only dropped it about 2 feet, and onto a carpet. Got a little flec on the front of the case which I'm angry at myself for, but it seems that I'm not the only one who is having this issue so maybe it's not damage related. I will probably call cowon today to ask them about this. Is there anyone who DOESN'T have this happening to them?

This reminds me of when I got my Lite-On DVD drive a couple years ago and there was a noise coming from the inside that sounded like sand, or some kind of grain moving around. The drive worked perfectly, but made that weird sound when moved around.
