My A3 has been shutting down every time I try to play big video files (> 800mb). Basically, any full rip of DVD would not play. I have 4 files (3 mp4's and 1 DivX MKV). Actually, the act of highlighting the file to display its detailed information would also shut it down.

Anybody having this problem? I'm contacting Cowon tomorrow. But just thought I'd try here first.

hmm... what Firmware you have installed?

It's firmware version 1.11a. The A3 hasn't come out that long yet so I doubt if this would be a firmware issue. I'm sure every A3 has the same firmware as of now (at least in the US)

I just got my replacement today and it exhibits the same problem. I'm working with Cowon America on this. They will get back to me late next week (their office is closed on Monday and Tuesday).

my A3 shuts down when trying to play mp4 video files with B-frames, and mkv files (which I think have -frames as well). These files are from the CCC and range from 60mb to several hundred.

So I think it's an issue with what the A3 supports for B-frames, not that they're large files. I've played VOB and divx movies that size no problem.

Does anyone know if Cowon plan to support B-frames? They're fairly common, right?

I wouldn't count on it since they haven't supported them with any other PMP, but it's possible I suppose.
