View Full Version : Cannot connect to home wifi network
I cannot connect to my home WiFi network (USA) no matter what I do. I have an Actiontec MI424WR router (Verizon Fios) with WEP encryption. I have entered the correct encryption key, etc. but the Q5 will not connect. Can anyone help? Thanks.
PS Yes, I have turned on the WiFi radio in settings.

hmmmmm, did you try turning of the WEP for a short period of time, so unsecured broadcasting? And then are you 100% sure the router isnt mac adress filtered or some sort like that.
Does the router broadcast its SSI? are you able to connect to the router with other wireless devices, and so on and so on. Some more Info please ^^ my q5w was online in 3 minutes, but he, im dutch :)
Thanks for replying. Yes, the router is running through a Mac, but I have been able to connect with all my other devices without a problem (Archos 604, laptop, etc.).

turn of macfiltering then, in fact turn all security off (for a brief period of time) just to try, after succes you turn 1 after 1 back on, i realy had no troubles connecting it, but its very hard to solve over a forum :S
This should be a simple question, and have a simple answer - but being a simple person, I can't find it myself. [wacko]
How do I enter the network key? No keyboard appears- so how do I perform the basic action of inputting a string?
Thanks for any help available.

My taskbar has no such button. At least, I've not been able to find it. [unsure]

Having continued to read on further, it appears that I need to do the firmware upgrade to get the button.

Thanks, now disregard the post.[biggrin]

My Home WiFi is set up for WPA (TKIP) +WPA2 (AES) but would not connect.
I found that by using WPA2-PSK Authentication + the (non default) TKIP Encryption, it suddently connected and started working.
Seems there is a problem with the default AES encryption support.
I cannot however get it to auto-connect. I always have to use the WLan button at the bottom to 'enable WLAN', then Connect manually. Displaying the log shows it authenticated fine at startup time, but was then instructed to cancel connection.
Has anyone got WLAN auto-connecting upon startup?
Anyway - hope the above helps.
I have a trouble with wi-fi.
I use Acorp 422G as router. Cowon can find it and string "associated with Acorp-W422G" appears.
But in IP information tab i see wrong IP adress and Subnet Mask (not from my network), and so I cannot reach internet.

Did you try using a static IP from your network?
Cowon works perfect. I had to renew firmware of router.
