I have a program that rips any dvd, but it only goes up to 640X480.

What do you guys use to rip DVD (Commerical) onto you PMP. I would like to rip them at a little higher resolution.

Thanks!

DVDs only have a vertical resolution of 480 so a program would have to scale it up to a higher resolution. You're probably better off doing it at 480 and letting the display device handle the scaling.

The Q5W doesn't do VOB (according to specs) so you'd have to convert..

Exactly. DVDecrypter has nothing to do with resolution.

If working with widescreen is it worth ripping to 720x480 to use the screen to its max potential size?

I like dvdecrypter + AutoGK but have also been using Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum 4

CloneDVDmobile is a nice program....it rips the DVD's straight to .avi's..saves a lot of time...there is an option to do 1, 2 or 3 pass.

It also has custom selections for the X5 and mobile phones and ipods and Zunes and gps units that play video...just a great program..

No D2 setting yet though...but they update quite frequently..

Auto Gordian Knot (AutoGK) is probably the best dvd ripping software out there. its all automatic too, you used to have to do it all yourself before! Its all freeware too.

Is the multipass option there to ensure that the audio and video are properly synced?

Multipass is used to achieve a better quality video stream, it's not about syncing audio at all. If the audio is out of sync 20 passes will not fix that.
