View Full Version : Got My X5 Today
It's sweet! I put some short movies on it, and checked out the sound. There seems to be some problem with the equalizer, the songs get all garbled. But it is totally worth the wait. I had to get the korean version of the firmware for flac, and that was no problem at all. Any questions you guys have, ask, I'll be glad to answer them.

was it a bitch to convert your iTunes folder songs into the x5? is that even possible?

also, how do the controls feel? it seems like putting the play button on the side was a poor idea- any thoughts?
I think CNet was overreacting.

See my posts here http://iaudiophile.net/forums/viewtopic.php?id=1923 about changing equaliser setting and getting garbled sound.
The motto is: don't use it.
A question to those who have their X5 already: what is the weight of the package, approximately?
(Since the DAPs are so much cheaper in the US, I'm thinking of having an American friend buy me the X5 and then ship it to me in the Netherlands as a gift. To be able to calculate the shipping costs (and therefore whether or not that would be worthwhile), I'd need to know the weight of the package.)

Mine shipped out today! Less than a week to go.
I don't usually use equalizers unless there's something really disturbing, like the tinny sounding car-tape converter for my wife's car, or a song that's way too trebly. Still, it's disturbing that a feature is not working right, but I'm confident it won't be long before things are squared away.
Well the sound is excellent even compared to the Karma, the X5 cerainly has more bass. Unfortunately, I wont be using the EQ. Waste of battery anyway.
Illy, the controls are excellent, very solid. The metal is really nice because it feels a lot more professional than stuff like the Karma. Its very solid and extremely thin. I am really happy with it.
I cant comment on the weight because I really dont have anyting to weigh it with. It's not extremely heavy and you don't notice it in your pants/shorts. It feels about as heavy as a Dish network remote with batteries.
@ anakha:
Hey , I'm also dutch. Iasked the grandma from a friend of mine to send it, but she is on a holiday in switz. (bloody hell, why did she had to go one day before the x5 was released!). so now I bought mine on mmport.nl, but it cost me 400 euro's for the normal 30 gb.
if you want to save money; Ship it as a gift!
it could save you 50 euro's or more.

You guys who think about getting your DAP from the US.
Just be aware that it will be a hussle and extra expences if you need to be sending the unit back and forth to US if anything goes wrong.
I am currently residing in Europe, but still do almost all my shopping in the US. About a year ago I decided to by my Nikon D7o locally and pay more for it, so that I could get it serviced locally if need arises. Good thing I did, as it has been back to Nikon twice within a year.
for the same reason I decided to get the X5 from a local store. I know that build quality is excellent, and I am not expecting anything to go wrong, but the fact is there is a HDD inside, and these are known to occationally cause problems.
