hi all,
i am something of a iaudio newbie, but I have a specific question. My friend has a 40gb iPod and 40g's worth of music arranged in his iTunes program. If I buy an x5 and try to import all of his music, will it be a complete disaster since it doesn't recognize id3 tags? will i just be left with an incredible mess of un-navigable songs?
thanks
dan

You can always arrange them in folders before uploading to x5.
For me the browsing by tags alone would be a problem, as I don't think I'd like to go through and check the tags on over 8000 music files I have on my HDD..

As much as I understand "iD3 databasing/browsing"(implemented in the iPod and Creative players) does not require you to go through all songs.
The hierarchy/ies is/are built up("automatically") using the iD3 tag information.
Please correct me if I am wrong

Should be doable(and not too diffcult IMHO ;))...

I thought iTunes organized the files by folder for you.

The id3 tags (or lack of organisation by them) won't be a problem copying them to the X5. What you need to find out from your friend if he recorded them with with iTunes. If the iPod Digital Rights Management crapola is on them then they will be useless to you on the X5, or any other mp3 player, or even another iPod for that matter! Hahaha... I can't believe how crap that is...
Now everyone, say it with me...

For all you having those problems, just download mediamonkey, and in the usb sync options, you can have it automatically create a folder structure on your m3/x5 based on your id3 tags and have the songs copied to the matching folders
Hope this helps
