Hi ppl,
The official specs state that the A3 has hi-speed USB2..(ie. 480mbit/s) but there's no mention of the usb-host function's speed. Interested in it as an on-the-road camera backup device, so hi-speed (rather than full-speed - verrry slow) usb host backup would be good..... can anyone enlighten me?
Cheers

If anyone is still interested, I did a quick test. Two files copied to a 256mB cruzer mini thumb drive, then to the A3. 8 bits in a byte, right? Results:
computer to thumb drive:
3s 12.3mB = 4.1mB/s = 32.8mbit/s
8s 23.2mB = 2.9mB/s = 23.2mbit/s
thumb drive to A3:
11s 12.3mB = 1.1mB/s = 8.9mbit/s
18s 23.2mB = 1.3mB/s = 10.3mbit/s
vs 480mb/s for USB2.0
or 12mb/s for USB1.1
Either way it's not USB2.0 speed, due to slow hard drive on A3 and limitations of the thumb drive. I'll post numbers later when I get my 150x SD card and reader, and try that on A3. You can draw your own conclusions.

I think I get around 6MB/s last time I checked (http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21593)
but the USB 2.0 spec indicates that it should be around 60MB/s - not true for my A3 atleast! takes me around 1.5-2 mins to transfer a 700Meg file.
Also I consistently get 6-7 MB/s. It still seems to be rather good compared with my memory stick, SD card reader and chineese MP4 player.

6MB/s seems to be on the upper end... on average I am getting lower than that.

just to clarify, I believe redfox666 was asking about the A3's host function speed.
But while we're here, I've been disappointed with the computer->A3 transfer speed, I get 25MB/s no problem with my external hard drives, and I expected more from the A3.
