since i got my Archos 605 - i have only had one problem with it: how to convert a MKV. to AVI. or MPEG.

does anyone know how convert it WITH subtitles? in the mkv. file the subtitle is in a ass. file? i can convert it to run on my archos 605 its just that the subtitles are not there.

btw- the show is "ef - a tale of memories" (first episode) and the torrent is from http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/modules.php?name=Releases

so who knows how to convert mkv. files WITH subtitles in them?

so you want to hard code the subtitles onto the avi(??) as opposed to having them in a separate file? how does the archos handle subtitles anyway, will it actually play them from another file or is it necessary to hard code them on? try this guide for hard coding them on =]

it needs to be hard coded... i think.

thanks a bunch! i've wasted two whole days off my holiday to workout a way to convert an mkv. fil - i'll let you know if it works out. (haven't tried it yet.)

yep it works footy!!!!

for those who want to know how to do it, you have to:

1. download mkvmerge and MKVextractGUI (put in same folder)
2.run MKVextractGUI and take out the aas. (or other subtitle file
3.Run Allok MPEG4 Converter - select the wanted codec and add in the aas. then convert!

it doesn't make much sense but since no one asked for it in particular i can do it sloppy!

so very happy!
