:o) ....hi

can the g3 play really long files without stopping with no other reason then running out of battery.
I have very long mp3 files from different kinds of lectures ( 4-5hrs ) and i want to be able to listen to them without any problems.
Also the feature that ifp's 7xx, 8xx have is fading out at the and of songs and fading in at the beginning of a new one, is this possible with g3 or I5 ?

...thanks a lot !

hi again
is there any real diference in voice recordings with I5vs G3 ?

here is what one guy had to say on the subject :
"This has been noted in other threads. Voice recordings made on the G3 tend to sound a bit muffled. Voice recordings made on the i5 sound a bit brighter, but thin. The G3 has a neat A-B button which is great when you're trying to learn lyrics. I have one of each and am still trying to decide which to sell and which to keep. I'd keep the G3 but I think I like the sound of the i5's voice recorder better."

..i have litle less then 7 days to decide wich one to get, so any thoughts on this would be very welcome, i'll be using a recording feature a lot, so it is very important to me to see what you have to say on this.

all the best, cheers !

i don't think the recordings will differ
but there is an slight missalignment in the placement of the mic holes in the g3 , i guess that that can be the difference. my wife uses hers (G3) for recording her classes and has no problems with it.
as for the long playback.WELL

i have a mp3 about 40 mins and it played the whole thing as for longer can't really say. there is also a bookmark function to all you to bookmark a spot in a file. again i don't use it so i can't say.

hope this helps

I also listen to long lectures. But the longest one that i have heard is around 2 hours. There is absolutely no problem with my G3 playing the lectures. I use the bookmark function practically everyday.
I can see no reason why the i5 would record better than g3 as both have the same kind of chipset. Even if it was different it probably would not make much difference. I also record lectures regularly and the g3 recording isnt sufficient by itself. I have to triple the volume and reduce the his using software for it to be good enough to listen later on the hi fi.
