Hi,

Hope someone can help. I've just bought the D2, it's a great piece of kit but I tried to find the firmware installed but when I go to info/firmware it's blank. When I turn on the D2 it shows 4.51 at the bottom of the screen, is that the firmware version?? I tried to upgrade with the latest firmware (2.50) but nothing happens when I install the first file.

I'm in the UK and bought it from www.advancedmp3players.co.uk if that changes anything.

Any ideas?[confused]

Sure it's not 3.51? Never heard of 4.xx firmware files before. If its true, maybe it is a new model ...

Hi,

Maybe I should have mentioned it has a DAB radio built in so I guess it's the latest model.

Is the 4.51 shown on startup the firmware?

Yes the DAB model uses the 4.xx version of FW. 4.51 being the first (and latest) do not use any other FW other than 4.xx

It's just as well my previous attempts at upgrading to 2.50 never worked [blush]

Did the D2 come pre-loaded with the Bible?

A CNET Review from the UK stated that the UK model comes with the bible pre-loaded.

No, it doesn't come pre loaded with the bible :)

I've just recently got the DAB version... is yours OK, mine is very tempremental, it keeps losing sound, the screen goes funny and only reappears in parts as I activate the touch screen. In short, its not actually working. Firmware bug or broken player??? All other aspects of the unit are great!! :)

I've bought a D2 with DAB too, and I have no problems at all. Everything seems to work just fine! And WOOOW what a player! [excited] The DAB reception is just great and can run for 12 hours on a single charge.
The players firmware version is 4.51. I don't think we can find a newer version than this.

No problems with mine either, DAB is great too.

Ordered the Ultimate Ears super.fi 5Pro to improve listening over the standard earphones, can't wait to see how they improve the already fantastic sound.

Nice to see a load of new D2 DAB users, welcome guys and girls. I think its safe to say the latest of version 4 is 4.51, since version 3 is also in the 3.51 stage. With the problems you are experiencing hopefully they will be fixed in the new firmware updates.

Most likely, the only version of 4.XX is 4.51 (maybe 4.51b). I would've considered a DAB D2 but we don't have any DAB across the pond.

Does anyone with 4.51 have problems seeing their SDHC or SD card? Mine doesn't appear as a hard disk in XP, just the COWON drive appears.
I have to remove the card and use an external card reader to access it. I assumed it was a firmware problem but maybe its a fault on my player.
Otherwise its excellent! The DAB reception is fantastic.

Just to pass some information on, I got the following in an e-mail from AMP3 earlier on today... :) Hope its accurate, Bless AMP3 for e-mailing me, hope Cowon can fulfil the deadline

Good Morning,

Just to keep you up to date on the D2 DAB update that will fix the problem with the DAB cutting out. Cowon have been in touch today to say they should have it ready by the 2nd of October. We will therefore hopefully be updating you with the update files and instructions by the middle of next week. Thank you for your patience.

Hi guys and galls, don't shoot the messenger cause I'm at work and haven't tried it yet but AMP3 have just posted up the firmware update for the D2 DAB model which apparently fixes the DAB issue. Here's the page on thier forum with the link for the update:

The AMP firmware installed easily but didn't make any difference for me :(
Did anyone get it to fix the DAB problems?

Likewise, firmwire installed ok but the DAB problems (scanned 51 channels) still exist.
Transferrring music back onto the player and readjusting the settings is a bit of a chore too.
