Can Windows CE run an NES emulator? If so, I am definitely getting a Q5. That would be sweet.

No problem with that. MorphGear is a nice emulator for Windows CE.
NES, SNES, GBC, GBA, Sega Genesis, MasterSystem, GameGear...

the game pads are good and all but whats the use when you can't play top games on the cowon q5? (like halo, oblivion). the only thing you can play are those flash games on the cowon site, but i can see myself getting bored with that and just using my cowon q5 for just music and video.

besides there are game control on the cowon q5 iteslf sp why bother wast another $20-30 on a game controler you won;t use?

Wow, that little folding Game Pad is cool (last two pics). I'm assuming any PS3 knockoff PC controller will work?

Is that right? I don't see any buttons on the front, what, you use it's touch screen or something?

if you look closley at the top pictures, you can see the touch screen controls, or you can look at the cowon q5 review at cowon, it has a larger picture.

those would be for flash games then, the emulator doesnt seem to have any like that [sad]

ask yourself honestly, how many times are you going to use the emulator after 10 times? when i put rockbox on my retired ipod, i got bored of it after a week!!!! this may happen to the cowon q5 too!

The Handheld PC version of MorphGear is compatible with Windows CE MIPS devices.

Just see this thread:

You just let me worry about that. I have no problem investing a couple of dollars in a controller if I could play NES on a long flight.

i have a pocket pc with windows mobile 5 and i have used a few different emulators on it for S/NES and Gameboy advance. they have virtual controls that you can set up on the screen wherever you like. i know the q5 isn't wm5 but i'm sure there are similar emulators. but of course, having a controller would be a lot cooler. and the comment about rockbox and flash games - those are much simpler and not as fun as having the entire nintendo and gameboy catalog available to you. there are a lot of other fun games for windows mobile that use the touchscreen and are a lot of fun too.

i would reconsider if the games are free and of good quality -- if so i wouldn't mind blowing a few bucks on a controller. it would be good though if we could install a pc game on it -- age of empires would be good.

I wonder if the wireless Xbox 360 controller will work on Q5 with the windows usb adapter.

Unless It's a UMPC. I won't see any PC games happening on a PMP. Perhaps older generation PC games like Doom, but don't expect Oblivion or Counterstrike. [yes]

you know, when i got my ipod video, i researched all that too. rockbox, wallpapers, but in the end, I just thought Id never really use it. Looks neat, and some people dig it, but I have me a game already (ds lite), and I dont spend that much time with my pmp, maybe 30 mintues a day.

some people may dig it though

isn't there a usb port or sd slot so you can watch movies on your nintendo ds? if your gonna watch only for 30min a day you should do that than buying a pricey pmp -- l will probably do 2-3 hr min.

oh yeah by the way rockbox is hard to install (the first time it took me 1hr+) and when i finaly did it i got bored after a week like said before so its realy not worth the effort.

Yeah, it's called the M3 lite or something. It's a NDS Cartage with a SD card slot.
It can play movies, music and run homebrew games and applications.
Plus I can use it as a wireless remote controller for my Laptop when playing games with it's wifi and a homebrew app.
Hopefully to play Q5 games too ;]
Has a comic book reader application and more.
It's real nice.

That comis book application sounds dreamy.... i realy like manga's so that bit sounds good to me [surrend] If i get the cowon q5 i would use picture view for the comis and watch anime.[biggrin]
