View Full Version : D2 dictionary failed? No Hebrew? no exit?
i just bought a D2 2GB and it's awesome!
But I have Downloaded the 3.50 firmware edition, and the D2 Calendar You offer in The forum.
3 Problems:
1. When I try to go to the dictionary it says:"Dictionary file failed" or something like that. Huh?
2. If the 2.50 firmware supported Hebrew,why does the 3.50 can't?
3. In the calendar,There Is no Exit Button. I have to turn off the player to go back to main menu. Huh #2?
thnx,
omerdav
Hi omerdav welcome to the site.
1. you need to download the dictionary files first then copy them onto the D2 for the DICT to work :) There is a lite version or a full version (only useful if you know/speak korean).
So i recommend downloading the lite version here: http://dn.cowon.com/download/d2_dic/PowerDic_Lite.zip
But the full version is here if you want it anyway: http://dn.cowon.com/download/d2_dic/PowerDic_Full.zip
Instructions: http://board.cowon.com/zeroboard/zboard.php?id=C08&page=1&sn1=&divpage=1&bmenu=iAUDIO&category=38&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&bmenu=iAUDIO&desc=asc&no=384&bmenu=iAUDIO
(just follow the pictures)
(unzip contents onto the D2 in a folder named POWERDIC)
2. no idea about the language support
3. to close any flash application press the menu button at the top of the D2.
Omer,
The Hebrew support is there - at least on the 2.5 version (the one without the dictionary).
version 3.5 is intended for the Korean market so the features are not exactly the same. (For example no MTP on 3.5).
Anyhow, I tried the Hebrew interface and I can tell you I didn't like it.
a. The font used is an old Hebrew typeface and it just looks weird. its like reading the bible.
b. The translation could be better.
c. Some of the placements of icons on the "now playing" screen and the song info (if an English song) is messed up. I guess that because Hebrew is RTL.
To be frank, I use the English interface because Hebrew doesn't 'fit' on media players :)
The only thing I want COWON to fix is the letter ordering for Hebrew song titles. they are messed up if you use the English interface.
thnx for your comments.
addz - You are right - The M really brings you back to main menu (as it should...)!
i gave up Dictionary. i will turn back to version 2.5.
S13 - i am currently using English and i've changed the names of the songs in my D2 to English.
" Hebrew doesn't 'fit' on media players". that's not true at all! almost every Person Has an MP3 player (well, most of them are generic) and the users are crying for hebrew support.
maybe somtimes soon i will give a D2 Review from an israeli point of view...

Search forum for "themes".
Is there another way besides themes to customize my D2?

Altering themes to your own fav. theme.
Background picture (upload fav. pict and set it as background in settings).
Use your own (favourite, or compiled) font.
Appart from the possibilities of configurations in settings, you can always write/find flashfiles that you can run (eg, run a calendar or something).
other then that I think you can't do much more (appart from writing your name on the back).
