Is the i7 really anything more than a more expensive i6 with extra battery life?

yes, I know it's flash memory, which is what the i6 should have been in the first place.

with 60 hours battery life, no USB host, and album art (which i don't think the i6 had, but i'm not sure)

Faster, too. But yes, looks like an incremental improvement on the i6, not a whole new revolutionary product.

They are still updating the firmware though, so maybe we will eventually get playlists, and more than 2000 tracks. Nothing much wrong with the I6 anyway, apart from the dumb 0.85" hard drive (though I'd still prefer a user swappable battery).
