heh, what is it with ipod bashing?
Apple released a simple straight forward easy to use Mp3 player with no frills, with a not so great battery life and a great loyal fanbase, but I dont see that as a reason for people to bash it...
For me i bought the 1st genration 5gb ipods and have been using it till the battery has worn down, then i got the 3rd gen model because i didnt see any mp3 players that looked or worked as good as it (Graphic Designer/Product Designer), the reason im getting the iAudio M3L 20gb is that i see it as the next step up from the iPod:

1) Looks great
2) Very Easy to use
3) Lots of extra features
4) Great community of users who help each other and share their experiences with it
5) Firmware updates on a regular basis
6) A helpful company that looks out for its users
7) Long battery life (my personal favourite)
(anything i missed out?)

I see the iPod as a simple functional mp3 player that looks good, the iAudio though is everything the iPod is and alot more-the iPod is the past and the iAudio is the future simple as that.

Let me know your thoughts on iPod bashing.

Who is bashing? I don't see anything wrong with a little humor. These are just electronic devices, don't get so worked up over it. Are you employed by Apple? If so I can see your point. I am loyal to whichever brand meets my needs at the time of purchase, If apple comes out with something better than my M3 in the next few years, Apple will get my money. Try posting about anything other than iPods on an iPod website and see what kind of bashing takes place.

RawShark, you are right. I think as an iAudio (and I formerly owned a 2nd Gen iPod, too) user you don't have to bash any other player because you know what you've got. I think bashing is mostly for those people who aren't really sure, if they could rely on what they stand for. But me, as an iAudio user, I am sure.

On the other hand it is, for me personally, a great fun to see the Apple supporters, which are in my opinion often a bit too fundamental in their point of view (because it is only an electronical product they are standung for) and therefore very easy to anger.
But all of us, not only in this case, have to accept that there is not only good or bad, white (!) or black. And most iPod supporters lack some self-criticism which makes them to easy victims for a "bashing-campaign".

I think what iPod bashing does happen comes about from frustration. Most iPod users are not as open minded as yourself and they go on about it almost fanatically. All the fuss over a piece of electronic equipment that will be obsolete soon anyway. As booth99 said, mention anything other than iPod to most iPod users and it is dismissed out of hand. When you consider that the battery lenght on the G3 was criminal and there are so many problems with the G4 that even iPod lounge is recommeding that users wait to buy till Apple sort it, its clear thatApple are having a few problems yet most users are for some reason willing to put up with these things because its Apple. The most impressive marketing comes from apple, both in advertising but also that they have convinced people that the new iPod is cheaper than G3. It is amazing people believe this. Add the cost of the accesories that are no longer included and its much more expensive. Once you start conning your own fan base its a slippery slope.

And I don't understand why one could have the impression RawShark is biassed for Apple or something, when he says "the iAudio M3L 20gb is that i see it as the next step up from the iPod".
I'm a bit confused, is it perhaps my lack of understanding the English language?

Complete agreement with you bluez, the lack of accessories that come with the iPod now and the still low battery life on the 4th gen iPod is crazy and even more than the fact that the iPod users will still buying it even with those cons.

I have lots of apple products because I work on Apple machines at home and work (Graphic Design/Product Design), i purchased the wifi airportExpress sound network from apple to send the music wirelessly around the house and one for work which i love, i also love the iPod too but to a certain point, i see it as it is: a simple aesthetically pleasing functional mp3 player, iAudio M3 series has replaced iPod in my eyes and that is why I'm buying the M3L and not the 4th gen iPod no matter how much of a fan of apple I am :)

Koolshen, when i said "The iAudio M3L 20gb is that i see it as the next step up from the iPod" i meant it as a step up in Mp3-evolutionary-progression (hope thats cleared up) :)
I've bought apple products because of their beautifully crafted design and their functionality (thats what i like about apple products)- for me thats 2 important reasons for buying a product.. 1) that it looks good and 2) it does what its supposed to do, on the box and for the buyer.
