Could somebody please recommend PC-card type of SDHC-compatible card reader. Is there any?
And I should make sure the reader is not just SD-compatible, right?
by PC_card, you mean PCMCIA? You'd be better off with an USB reader, I think. Those are WAY easier to find.

I have asked around and realised PC-card is on itīs way out. SDHC will probably never be supported on those, I've been told. I'll try USB instead, thank you.

Only a few bucks for a SD/SDHC Reader
(I've bought one a while ago for only 1,50 euro [toungue] )
Oh, you can get a PCMCIA (aka Cardbus) memory card reader that supports SDHC, but why would you want to? A USB model will be just as fast, and a lot cheaper.

Usb is more multi computer friendly too

For some laptops only have PCMCIA slots available (imagine you plug a mouse and a external modem in it's only 2 USB ports).
Sandisk created such devices, which I currently use. But beware, a pcmcia adaptor for with a SD card reader inside will have slow transfert speeds.
I'm talking about +/- 1,5 to 2Megabytes per second.
Sandisks have never failed me, and I have it for about 2 to 3 years now; still working.

Not necessarily - the PC card interface (cardbus) is way faster than USB (it's the same as PCI: 132MB/s, high-speed USB is only 60MB/s, both way faster than the SD card interface anyway). I can see why a pc card sd card reader is more attractive than a usb one for a laptop user: it fits inside the laptop, you don't have to faff around plugging it in when you want to use it - it's always there, like a built in card reader (assuming you don't need the pc card slot for anything else that is).

It's probably not the not the PC card interface that's slow, but it has a small chip inside to read the SD cards. I can only get about 1,5 MBps out of mine..
but then, it's a 512Mb card from the time these where brand new.
I bet the SD probably is not able to go higher then 1,5 anyways.
