In case some of you missed it, they had a segment on "brand name v. generic mp3 players" this morning and while I resent that they consider Cowon a generic brand they did make a point of saying that it's better than the nano in just about every way. They did say that it doesn't look as nice but I disagree. But they didn't even mention the battery being so much better!

Sound like a bunch of morons of you ask me. These kind of programs/reviews are so general and usually the people who do them don't really know what they're talking about. Still, at least Cowon got a mention.

I saw that this morning, it was on NBC I think, not ABC. But the point is that Brian Cooley, CNET's main editor was on and was basically going with what consumers want. Ipods = good for average users and people not knowing what they want.

I dont mind, means less people know whats actually a good player.

"I dont mind, means less people know whats actually a good player."

Yeah but that means our favorite DAP makers are not getting the recognition and profits they deserve.

More than that it facilitates the iSheep problem. People buy iPods because they don't know what they want and then turn around and proudly proclaim that no one could possibly want anything else. It's part of the marketing success of Apple that [the uniformed] people just assume that if you want to listen to digital music you need an iPod. Even on planes it's not an issue of turn off your cellphones and mp3 players, but rather turn off all phones and iPods. From a legal standpoint I would love to see Apple lose the iPod trademark for genericide; however, if BandAid and Kleenex are still around odds are the iPod will squeeze by as well.

Not to mention the fact that I'm a dolt and bhatman is completely correct. It was the Today Show.
