On a full charge - video playback is 6.5 hours with screen brightness at level 4 (out of a maximum of 10).
Someone asked me also about the boot time for the Q5: Boot Time: 20-25 seconds approx.

I asked about the autonomy in video.

Long boot time and short video playback. Not ideal on long haul flights.
Many many thanks for running the test. Much appreciated!

how much space is used up on your hard drive when you did the boot up test? cos that seems pretty long imo then again im used to flash drives which usually have a quicker boot up time

Have you ever booted an archos product?, they are at least 30 seconds

Have you ever booted an archos product?
One of the reasons I sold my Archos and got my A2.

actually no, mainly because none of my friends own an archos product. but damn that would annoy me so much

The boot times of archos product Gen4 and before are really annoying. Gen5 seems to have instant boot at the cost of a bit battery.

Are you guys actually serious? You're concerned about several seconds for a boot time? It's only seconds of your time... for crying out loud. How important can it be?

Unless the boot time is well into the "minutes" range, I really don't think you should complain.

I've done a Google search for WinCE and hibernate. I've gotten a bunch of technical articles regarding programming, and one article mentioning a specific devices-possibly a WinCE device-that can hibernate.

Hibernation is when your device saves it's current state and shuts completely off. Then, once you wake it up, it takes a fraction of the boot time to get back to it's previous state.

Does anyone know for sure if WinCE allows hibernation? That would make boot times a moot point for me, and does affect battery life in it's own small way.

During a long flight I will often shut down (or the A2 will shut down on its own to save power). Maybe 10 or 15 times during a flight, so 30 seconds boot compared to about 7 at the moment really adds up.

Hibernation would be a god answer.

>>Talking Archos, slow boot times their new offering is even slower than 04 series

now now people, the 05 series is only 30 secs from cold boot. the standby mode (that apparently lasts 20 days (http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?p=25881#25881) on battery) boots in 2 secs, equivalent to the iphone as seen in this video: http://generationmp3.com/index.php/2007/07/25/6890-video-galerie-photo-archos-605-wifi-vs-iphone-par-gmp3

and yes, i know i'm getting ot now [toungue] soo...

i did look in the win ce 5.0 emulator for a standby mode and there only seems to be a "suspend" one which on the emu just pauses the screen until further input. dunno what cowon will do with it, probably something different but hopefully still some kinda standby / hibernate mode. 30 secs is a bit too much especially if you only wanna listen to one song [sad]

and as you can see from my billions mistakes part because i am not a native english speaker, and part i am a very lazy human.
here is the question, i have the a2, and i am very happy with it, i use it mostly to watch movies, but i am also very tempted to get the q5, and my question is, as you know the A2 have an inbuilt failsafe battery, what about the q5? same as the older brother?, i was'nt able to see from the specs anything different from the a2, i just wanted to make sure with you guys.

cheers
