I haven't got a D2 yet (coming soon!), but i was curious if it was possible to create a text editing program for the D2. The text viewing capabilities are there, but I think it would be great if i could whip up a list of things i need to do, and cross them out on the go. Thanks!
I don't know, but without recompiling I was able to get this (http://www.oblius.com/?projects.obedit) editor running (without the menu items - sort of required) on the D2 in an essentially crippled state - it eventually hung and I needed to reboot.
So, it *may* be possible, I suppose - though this would also seem to necessitate an on-screen keyboard or similar capability input method.

thanks for the quick reply! I'll do more when i receive my D2
I downloaded the zip file and extracted it but there are lots of stuff in there. Where should i put those files.(Should i put those file in "flash".
I should emphasize that the pre-compiled .SWF file can be copied to the D2's FLASH directory, and it will start on the D2, but it will barely run and seems to require a device reset in order to stop the application.
It appears that source is provided, so someone who owns Macromedia/Adobe Flash would need to take the time for updating the code to properly run within the confines of Flash Lite 2.1, then recompile for D2 users.
And again, a virtual keyboard (or equivalent text input UI) would seem almost required to add for any text editing application.

this obedit thing looks like it is for editing files online (on a webpage).
it saves to html files via php scripts. so definately not a d2 type of program. not to mention the need for a keyboard.
123abc is closer, but still not a good editor. the save doesnt work and the keyboard is arrow driven.
I have been working on a simple one with an onscreen touch keybord, but there is one small but major problem... I cant get anything to save.
so, you can write all you want but you will never see it again.
if anyone knows of a flash program on the d2 that actually saves (and can load that data back again next time you run it), then please let me know. I will be able to decompile it and see how they have achieved it. all of the functions that are 'supposed' to work, dont.
even if it's just saving hiscores. let me know.

Just a thought... the dictionary in the fw 3.xx has got a nice keyboard and has an option where you can save the words you previously looked up... maybe try looking at that for some ideas?

Unfortunately, the dictionary (and the notepad) aren't flash programs. They are seperate utilites.
Hi, this could be the solution...i'm working on the same thing>

Good Flash On-Screen keyboard with source code (will not work on D2 without editing in Flash)

Basic Flash Handwriting recognition (also will not work w/out some editing):

Both apps will not freeze the player, but the buttons are distorted and disfunctional unless someone re-compiled the source code (might try if I have time; I have Flash 8)

I tried 'this' editor, but it does not work on the D2. I can not select any text and the combo boxes do not open. Without selecting any text the buttons have no function.
Did anybody get working more than me?
I used flash lite 2.1 and action script 2.0 as export settings.

Also tried the onscreen keyboard. Works fine in flash pro 8.0 using the 'generic windows mobile fone (320x240)' as test platform.
On the D2 I can not see the text area. Pressing the buttons the color changes, but the shift button has no effect.
