View Full Version : Need a basic,.... cheap 5-6GB player
Hi guys
Since Iaudio is not in the market yet, what current device would you recommend/previous and current experiences on the 5/6GB player?.
My needs:
to be available on the market NOW
5 or 6GB
The cheapest the better
Sound quality
Plays MP3 files
Good technical support
not tooo chunky
Better if it's in the package but I don't need:
colour screen
other files formats
other features (FM, recording, photos, bla bla bla...)
great thanks!!
creative micro or ipod mini
Thanks guys, i like the remouvable battery on the micro. What the best sound between Micro / Carbon?
One last question... As I'm planning on getting the X5 (the 5GB is for my partner:) I'd like to use only one software (don't even know if it's possible). Can I use Jetaudio for let's say Rio or Creative (I know that ipod require itune).
Cheers :)
itou I got a Rio Carbon and have several Iaudio players as well and I did some mini-HD tests. I think I can say that I know what I'm talking about when I say that the Rio Carbon has better sound quality than any other mini-HD player. The functions are really basic, but it has some advantages over the Micro like:
Amazing battery-life (25 hours easily with one charge (3 hours to charge)
No software needed no put songs on your player
Self-structuring database --> with you id3-tags right the player will sort the songs by artist/album/year and genre by its self
Really intuitive control, all the buttons are in the right place and menu-structure is childishly easy
Sound quality and price
All and all I think that the Carbon is the best choice for people who don't want anything else than a decent MP3-player without functions like FM-tuner etc.
Hi Ojjorz,
I'm definitely going for the Carbon. As usuaul it's a hassle to buy it here in Austrralia so I'll get it shipped from the States :)
Thanks again for your advice!
No problem, I hope you will love the device like I do :)
There's also the Rave MP players from GoVideo (?) which are 5 GB and go for ~$120. They appear to use the same Seagate ST1 (I think that's the model) drives as the Rio products. Hard to beat byte-for-byte pricewise.
Yes, but how about the (sound) quality and functions?
