I've been banging my head against this problem for some time now. What parameters should I use to encode a DVD to play as video on my F2?
I installed firmware 1.13 for my new F2, the most recent one. The manual on Cowon's site (which seems to be for firmware 1.11, but nothing else is available) says that an AVI file with XviD encoding, 15 fps, 160x120 resolution, and bitrate 256-384 is required, and no 2-pass encoding.
I used HandBrake on Mac OS X 10.4.10 with every conceivable set of options, but now if I try to enter Movie mode on my F2, the player freezes up - it doesn't even let me browse the Movies directory! [If I set it to output 144x112 resolution, it gets as far as the file browsing screen, but cannot actually play the file.] I have about 6 different encodings of the same DVD, and I load them only one at a time onto the Movies directory on my F2, to try to solve the problem, but no success so far.
I tried to use ffmpegx to do the conversion, but only the mencoder module could read from the VIDEO_TS directory, and if I use mencoder, ffmpegx immediately returns a syntax error.
Please, if anyone can help, that would be huge!
