View Full Version : How viable is it to efficiently operate the i7 blind from your pocket?

Hello.

I'm very much interested in purchasing either the D2 or i7, I'm still undecided. An important factor for me is controlling the player while it's in my pocket. I don't need access to all the player's controls, but just the essentials (FF, next song, volume, etc.). I know that the D2 can be configured to do this with the new firmware. What about the i7? Does it have programmable buttons along with the touch controls?

The touch sensitive buttons are fine as long as the player is in my hand, but I'm not sure how well I'll be able to use them blind.

i think that the iAudio 7 has some user-defined buttons as well, but this i'm not sure of (i'm wavering as well). A review on the iAudio 7 is coming out soon, so just hang on tight.

Well if you are playing a song or video, the scrollbar skips through the file being played as opposed to going to the next song. However, you can configure buttons to do certain things so I'm sure it's possible. I'll have a check on mine and see if it's possible.

Btw, I recommend getting one anyway, really nice little player.

With the latest firmware (1.13) you now have 3 buttons you can use when the unit is in your pocket so it works pretty well.

I use MP3 players for language learning. That involves a lot of skipping back by 5 seconds or so.
Q:
Would Iaudio 7 allow me to program skip back and volume to those three keys?

I think somemone wrote that it is possible to program skip to previous song, but was not sure about skiping back by 5 seconds.
Thanks

One of the setting for 'skip' is some number of seconds rather than 'track', so you set the +/- buttons to rev/ff when in hold mode, and you set the skip length to however many seconds you like, and "you am in good shape." Upper bound on skip is only 30 seconds though.
