Definitely get the iAudio 7. It is so much better than the iAudio 6.

The only thing the i7 doesn't have is USB-Host, but that is no good any way (on the i6).

According to the i7 user manual (http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/publicftp/Manual/iAudio7.pdf) (page 7, etc), it does have USB-host.

Another thing that the i7 manual mentions is that there is a limit of 200 folders and 2000 files (page 19). Because of that in itself, I wouldn't buy it. Why Cowon keeps putting limits on their products, I have no idea. It is very infuriating, though. Maybe the Rockbox guys can remedy these limits after they get a hold of the device.

The manual is wrong. There is no USB-Host anywhere to be found.

As for the file/folder limit: I only have the 4GB version and I don't think I will be able to fill my player with so many tracks. Anyway - they will be releasing a 16 GB version. I am pretty sure that if there is a limit they will up it.

Yeah? How about the folder limit? I hit the 50 folder limit even on my 512MB iaudio G3.

Limits are ridiculous. Yes, I will refuse to buy any devices that have these low limits.

I agree it is stupid and ridiculous, however you can work around it to some extent (rip whole CD as one or two tracks, use folder for album artist, rather than one for each album).

The manual now has the following known errors:

1) refers to 50 hours play time in one place
2) Shows 256kb/s bitrate on recording, which is not yet possible
3) Refers to 'hard disk noise' on problems page
4) Refers to USB to go, which is apparently not implemented.

This would take what .. 15 minutes .. to audit and correct, during beta test. Much as I admire Cowon hardware, generally, their firmware and testing procedures are straight out of Noah's Ark.

Whether you accept the limits or rip the album as a single track, Cowon is still taking your control. There is no excuse for it. I'll probably be checking out crappy stuff like Insignia brand, now that I see OGG playback as one of their capabilities.
