Hi, I would just like to know if the new i7 features the USB Host like the i6 did.
On the official homepage, the i6 did show this feature on the spec pages but nothing is shown on the i7 ones...
Am I right to presume that this feature had been removed because of the flash memory evolution?
It would be nice to unload the content of a dslr on the field with the future 16gb i7. cheers

i think the Flash based Memory has to do something with this feature not being available but i'm unsure. i've heard things and they say it's not supported.

It has nothing to do with flash memory at all really. It has more to do with the fact, if it is really worthwhile implementing it on a player with such a small screen. You see, you need a decent amount of "screen real estate" to be able to handle file transfer between the player and the device efficiently.

Add to that the USB-host on the iAudio 6 was sloooooow, and I can't blame Cowon for taking it out at all.

So no, the i7 has no USB-Host functionality (or at least not at the moment and I doubt it will be added via a fw upgrade).

The manual says "USB Host (OTG) The USB Host capability of iAUDIO 7 allows direct downloading of images from digital cameras (*Not all digital cameras are supported for this feature" and says USB Host is one of the main choices on the main menu between Text Editor and Settings. However it is NOT actually on the main menu anywhere. At this point, I can't see if it really is on the player or not. If it is it's hiding.

Ahhhrg, they must have taken the i6 manual and just crappily updated it.

That's obvious from the fact they refer to 'hard disk noise' as a recording problem in the problems section at the back. Arrrgh, for 'Cowon' read 'Clown'. Just a simple typo ...
