With firmware 2.46 it was posible to connect de D2 with my carradio. Now with firmware 2.50 when I connect it gives the message charching en after a few seconds it disconected en then good bye. I tried again firmware 2.46 same problem back to firmware 2.50 same probleme. Tried anoter USB-cable same probleme. My USB-stick works with the USB-port of the carradio. I can try the USB-port of my portible radio the U3 worked with it but the radio is not at home at the moment.
Questions:
Have other D2 users mabye the same problem?
Are there sugestions to solve the problem?
Is it maybe a harware problem USB partly defect?

I can stil connect with the PC-USB and transfer files.

Check under your D2's System settings. It's not unusual for the transfer mode to reset to MTP after a firmware upgrade... you'll need to set it to MSC.

The two settings MSC en MTP I have tried. By MSC disconnected en by MTP no conection at all.

With firmware 2.46 I was able to play MP3 trough USB.

Depends what you mean by 'play'. It will not send any audio data to the headphone socket. However if the car radio is smart enough to play compressed mp3 music files from a pen drive, it should be able to play them from a D2, or X5, or whatever else - as long as the device goes into USB connect mode and shows up as a hard drive (and assuming the music files are where the radio expects to find them).

(no DAP can 'play' solely through USB, because USB only has power and data connections - there isn't a wire for stereo analogue signals.)

Ok the D2 is not 'playing' the files itself, it is just presenting the data to the radio (or whatever), but the result is still music coming out of the speakers which is all most folks care about.

I know you said otherwise above, but this sounds like either a MTP vs. MSC configuration issue, or your music file on the D2 are not visible to your car's stereo head unit when hooking up via USB due to directory structure or filename differences that the car radio cannot parse.

I use the MSC-configuration and before 2.50 the carradio played the mp3-files. With my U3 it was also posible and also with an USB-stick.

Ok, so does the radio still work with memory stick and with U3? If yes, then the D2 is the problem (just to make sure) - does D2 still show up right (as disk drive) when connected to a PC? Did you try a 'chkdsk' from PC, to make sure D2 memory is not knotted?

If you see just 'charging' it usually (should) mean that the D2 is detecting power on the USB connector (as when connected to a power adapter) but is not seeing the USB data signals that let it know a PC/MAC is trying to talk to it.

Try turning it on before connecting it. Try turning it off before connecting it. Try cycling the power on the car radio ... scream, tear hair ...

I preformed a chkdsk but no result. On a portable radio with USB the D2 is recognised as external source and played MP3. Maybe the change of drive letters gives the problem with the carrradio? The other sugestions I all tried without any result.

Well, as I just posted in another thread on upgrading to firmware v2.50, your drive letter for the D2 may change: on v2.46 my D2 was H: and the SDHC card in the D2 was I: in a Windows XP PC.

After the upgrade to v2.50, those drive letters were reversed (D2 = I: and SDHC card = H:).
