I just received my Cowon D2 and am looking for more memory. I need at least 8 more GB of memory to hold my songs and I was wondering which one to get. I looked at newegg.com and they have many different options. I am looking to spend between $60-$80... here are some I found: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=sdhc+8+gb&x=0&y=0
thanks [thumbsup]

Try to aim towards either a class 4 or (preferably) a class 6 card, and spend an extra couple of dollars for a SDHC memory card reader. I takes a long time to fully load an 8GB card through the D2.

The PNY or Patriot cards look like good options.

I purchased the Patriot 8GB Class 6. It arrived today, actually. Initially I had a scare that it didn't work, but after going from firmware v2.5 (non beta) down to v2.46, it worked fine. Phew! [blush] I'm guessing there's something wrong with v2.5 that caused it not to read the card correctly.

well actually my computer has a slot for sd cards (will it work with SDHC?).
Anybody else have an opinion on a certain brand? I'm pretty sure im going to get class 6

Not knowing what model notebook/PC you have, I have no way of determing which inbuilt card reader you have. So I have no idea whether or not it'll support SDHC.

As I mentioned above, an external SDHC card reader is literally a couple of dollars... I purchased one for the princely sum of $10 AUD. [smile]

With shipping to the States, they tend to cost NO MORE THAN $10 off eBay, at least. :)

If your computer's reader is for SD cards, it may not read SDHC. My digital camera accepts SD cards, but the specific model was made before SDHC cards became widely available . . . so, it cannot utilize SDHC card formats.

I've got a couple 8GB Class 6 SD Cards which work well with the D2, both purchased from newegg: the A-DATA Turbo 8GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820211180) and the
Kingston 8GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134483)

My recommendation would be to save some bucks and go for the A-Data. The Kingston was the only class 6 newegg had when I bought my first card. There was a little weirdness with the tags (described here (http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showpost.php?p=135523&postcount=106)) the first time I fired up the A-Data in the D2, but this seems to be a possible bug in FW 2.50, as opposed to a problem with the card...seems to be working just fine now.

Definitely the advice to get a card reader is right on the mark - this will be the best 6 bucks you will spend in regards to the D2. Here is the one I got from newegg : Rosewill RSD-CR102 USB 2.0 SD/MMC Card Reader (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820223079) This will greatly speed up transferring music to the card.

The price of 8gb cards seems to be falling all the time - over here in the UK you can now order a branded name (Kingston) class 2 for £25 ($50US) which I hadn't been able to find until this week.

I doubt your computer is SDHC ready unless it is very new - even then I've not come across one with one fitted yet. But as other have said, readers cost very little - my Sandisk MicroMate (minimate?) was $8. They must be keeping the units at cost to promote the format? Just shows what the mark-up is on this type of thing normally!

Interestingly enough, my digital camera is 2.5 years old, and through a firmware upgrade was able to accept SDHC (Pentax *istDS) and works fine with my 4gb SDHC.

I find it really worrying that firmware v2.5 does not support 8gb SDHC when 2.46 did! That's poor. Has anyone else found this? I have upgraded to 2.50 and my 4gb SDHC still works fine - i was thinking about splashing out for an 8gb soon - will hold fire I think.

I'm using the two 8GB cards mentioned above w/ 2.50 with no real problems.

The only issue I've had is the one mentioned above (http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showpost.php?p=135523&postcount=106) - tags didn't show up the first time I booted a new card, but a couple reboots fixed this, at least for me. So, 2.50 does support 8GB cards.

I got a Patriot 8gb Class 6 for $91 Canadian. That was the cheapest I could find in Canada.

Yeah, really, £25 seems almost implausible.

I think they must have mistaken 4GB price for 8GB price. 4GB is around £25, 8GB is about twice that. You can get a fake one from eBay a lot cheaper, naturally ..

The cheapest I've found is this:
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=102737
£30 including delivery to UK, but they've been out of stock for ages.

They actually list it there for £26 (well 25.99) but that's not very interesting if they don't have it ..

I picked this up:
http://www.adorama.com/TSSD6HC8G.html

It may not make too much fiscal sense to have it shipped international but I've been very happy with the bang for my buck.

I bought a TopRam 8GB SDHC Class 2 for $75 off Ebay which came with a SDHC card reader. No major issues reading it on my D2 and definitely faster to copy files using the card reader.

The 8gb class 6 patriot works fine in 2.5 for me.
