View Full Version : on-off mechanism
I would be very grateful for help on the following:
Without an obvious reason, the on-off mechanism on the side of my iAudio F2, became loose and I now can not turn it on.
Please can anyone suggest how this can be fixed.
Thanks!
This happened to my F2 also, it IS possible to fix it by yourself. The problem is by a tiny broken off part of the on/off mechanism.
To fix it, you need to take off the thin black side strip on the side of the on/off mechanism (right), you can do this with your nail, the black side thing is attached with a sort of glue.
When you fixed it, you will be able to turn on/off the player again, but "Hold" won't work anymore...

I'm thinking of getting an F2 -- is this breakage common?
I don't know. Including myself, I only know two people who had it...

i had the F2 for 7 months and never had that problem.
@FURR which players (f2,d2,i7) sound quality better?u have got f2 and d2...
Some days ago the on-off mechanism of my F2 was broken too (so it seems that I'm number three ...). I think it's a case for the warranty service.
I sent Cowon a mail telling them that they should make the on/off switch more durable

That seems to be a common problem for Cowon. I am in the process of getting my G3 (replaced after 2 trips to service), and one of the problems is a bad power switch. I have read many other reports on the net of people with G3s with the same problem.
I was pushing to get it replaced with an F2, but I don't want another fragile unit. Is the F2 generally robust othewise?
Except for the powerswitch it's very durable
as soon as i took the f2 out of its box i had a feeling that the weakest point was the on off switch, i have had no problems but i do treat it carefully

what is up with you guys. again... i've never had this problem.
Sorry to revive such an old discussion, but - the switch on my 11-month F2 broke all of a sudden. It was repaired under warranty and now everything works fine - I hope that it will not break again.
I think Cowon should consider this issue.
